FAMEHello everyone,I am the president of my highschool's drama club this year. We were considering doind a musical that isnt done by a lot of highschools. I was wondering if anyone here has been in FAME, Or seen a highschool do FAME, and what the level of difficulty it would be to take on. I do understand it is heavy in dance, but if anyone could give me some good information, or good links on places where I could find character descriptions/vocal ranges ETC. That would be GREAT!

Well I was in a production with highschool aged kids and we did FAME and it turned out great. You'll be surprised what you can push them to do dance wise. We had prettty tough choreography. It has some great songs too. | ||

My high school tried to make Fame just a plain old play and it was good just confusing. They still had the big lunchroom dancing scene and a few characters sang. We of course had the huge Fame song at the end. Id try it , it would be a ton of fun and surprisingly simple dance moves can look really flashy if you put the right people in front and teach everyone how to do them well.
The ironic thing about this topic being in this forum is that the spring musical after Fame at my high school was Anything Goes so i always put these two together for that reason |

Iwas in fame back highschool. It is a fun show. The only dance heavy roles for leads are Iris and Tyrone. I think carmen does a little dancing but nothing real difficult. Depending how it is staged the "Dance students" do a lot of heavy dancing. But somtimes they put the whole chorus into just as much. |
