Falling in the Age Gap...

Two days until BBB auditions, and I am still on the fence about how to approach the audition. I am 24 years old, about 5'6" with brown hair and brown eyes. I am auditioning for a community theater production, so the age range will probably be pretty vast. I am a true soprano, but have a wide enough range to pull off an alto role and I have been dancing since I was four years old. I look a but young for my age, but I am not sure I could pull off the role of Kim. However, I don't know if I look like old enough to be Rosie.

Typically, I walk into auditions with one of my usual songs and just let it be, but the roles of Rosie and Kim are fairly different, so I want to make sure I approach this appropriately. Any feedback would be sincerely appreciated....

Thanks,
April D.

You sound like a Rosie to me! Dark hair, dark eyes, trained dancer, soprano-alto range... Even if you DO look young for your age, with a bit of stage makeup you should be a fine Rose Very Happy

However, one of my friends sounds a lot like you (minus the dance training) and she got the role of Kim, even though Kim is supposed to be fifteen! Maybe you should prepare for both?

They might have you read for both roles at the audition--if they do, then just give both readings your all, and they'll decide which role your best for!

Thanks for the great advice! I think you're right...I should just go in there and give it my all! Thanks again!
