Our local theatre is performing Oliver! this summer ('06). I have been in several shows over the years, including Oliver! MANY moons ago in college as a member of the ensemble, with several larger character-type roles, but have always wanted to play Fagin!

This theatre typically asks "auditionees" to perform at least part of a piece not associated with the show, but which shows range, characterization along the lines of desired role, yada, yada, yada.

Having said that, does anybody have a recommendation for a song not in the Oliver! songlist that would be AWESOME (or at least good!) to try for such an audition for Fagin?

Not all the answers are appropriate for you [especially the last one] but it gives a few suggestions.

If you add your request at the bottom of that thread too it will bump it to the top and you can ask for more suggestions if you need them.

Thanks Diva for the heads up! I checked out the other thread (good stuff!), but am looking for some ideas OUTSIDE of the Oliver! songlist. I wish we could do something from that songlist, because "...Reviewing..." would likely be my first choice, though I'm sure they will have us sing at least snippets from that and other songs, in addition to our main audition piece.

Any other thoughts? Again, thanks!
