Can anyone suggest an audition song for Fagin? Thanks!

Well for Fagin, the first song that comes to mind for me is obviously "Pick a Pocket or Two". Directors love it when you know one of the character's songs and they can see that you could do that part well. I'd also try "Reviewing the Situation" or another song that can show your low AND high voice. Good luck!

I'd say Reviewing the Situation. It's a real character song, showing the human side of Fagin, as well as having opportunities for comedy and good singing. Pick a pocket or 2 is just not good enough IMO. It's a bit too simplistic and repetitive.

Audiences prefer Reviewing the Situation anyway. It's Fagin's big number and it got me the part after my audition.

Our local theatre is performing Oliver! this summer ('06). I have been in several shows over the years, including Oliver! MANY moons ago in college as a member of the ensemble, with several larger character-type roles, but have always wanted to play Fagin!

This theatre typically asks "auditionees" to perform at least part of a piece NOT associated with the show, but which shows range, characterization along the lines of desired role, yada, yada, yada.

Having said that, does anybody have a recommendation for a song NOT in the Oliver! songlist that would be AWESOME (or at least good!) to try for such an audition for Fagin?
