Evita audition

I'm going for Che in EVITA. I know I can sing it. I know I can do it... even though I don't look a thing like Guevera.

My song choices are the following songs. I'm not sure which one to choose.

SMOKE ON THE WATER by Deep Purple
SUITE MADAM BLUE by Styx
AMERCAN WOMAN by The Guess Who
BEHIND BLUE EYES by The Who
HAMMER TO FALL by Queen

Suggestions? Thoughts?

Andy.

Hammer to Fall is probably the only one you'll find a decent piano score for.

Were you asked specifically NOT to use something from a musical?

If not, you might want to look at some other pop-influenced musicals (something by Schwartz maybe?) or some other ALW.

I agree with Chevstriss - finding piano sheet music to do some of those songs justice is going to be difficult.

Well, I want to show them a Colm Wilkinson/David Essex/DannyZolli kind of Che. I'm not Mandy or Antonio, so I thought I'd go with some rock songs.

Plus, the last time I auditioned with ALW material (for JCS) I almost blew my voice box up. For the next month, I had Strep Throat and Laryngitis.

Singing ALW won't give you a virus. Besides, if you get into the show you're going to have to sing ALW anyway, so I'm not sure where you are going with that argument.

I don't know what caliber company this is that you are auditioning for, but it is generally considered unacceptable to audition with anything other than a musical theatre piece unless it has been asked for.

My audition happened today. It was a lot of fun.

The director had chosen a song for us to sing, "Peron's Latest Flame" and broke us up into groups to sing the song for her. Each person had to pick a part to sing/play. First time through, I was Che, second time through, I was an aristrocrat.

We then went through a dance audition. Having Cerebral Palsey, I stumbled a few times, but thankfully I was in the back of the group and able to hide my balance problems... or else I powuld have fallen off the stage.

I should know whether I got a role by Tuesday.

I told the director "I just want to be involved in the show."

I got cast as a male swing!

Show dates are in February and rehearsals start next month.

I wanted Che or Magaldi, but at least I'm in the show!

My research on the Perons should come in handy (finally!)

I'm very happy!
