Everyone sings songs from the show and......how do I stand out from the other people singing the same songs that I'm singing?
the show we're doing is cinderella, and i would love to play her. however, i'm fairly certain that 305913852 people will come in who also would love to play her and I don't know exactly how to handle that. Another issue is that 99% of those people are my close friends.
So...any advice?

My first question would be: Is it a requirement that you sing from the show, or is that just what is normally done? If it isn't required (or even recommended), sing something different.

Maybe you could make up some hand motions or dance moves (depending on the song) when you're singing. Don't just stand there showing off your voice, show off your acting skills too! Really research the part and spend the audition day acting more like the character, so you really become the part.
