European productions/tours in 2010 worth seeing?

As the swedish production most likely will close down in december (sadly) I am probebly gonna have a huge Cats longing sometime in the next year so my question is:

What are the european/northern european shows next year?

Any english launguage shows off particular interest?

Any shows that focus higly on public interactions that make a trip worthly for that reason?

(I might take a trip to the Oslo show if thats still around but id guess I want found any production in Sweden...) Wink

Is the Budapest runs still going, or did it finally putter out?

As far as I know, the only replica productions going now are the World and US tours, and the South African tour.

Budapest sounds like a laungage I cant understand a bit off... As is Italian, sadly cause Id like to see how thoose "furry" masks looks irl... Laughing

By the way most european runs tends to be independent and free from any replica influence... Wink

Budapest is Hungarian. I still need that recording.

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain and Euro Tour were all replica productions.

Sweden, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungry and Norway were not replica. Some successfully, some not.

Oh I thaught replica was confirmed to the us continent Cool d'oh!

wat year was the german production i think i know some one who might hav a recording?

Replica productions are those that are the same design, direction, choreography, lighting etc. as the original in London in 1981.

Hamburg opened in 1986, transferred to Stuttgart in 2001, to Berlin in 2002, to national tour in 2004, and closed 2006. There is a double CD CATS Live Aus Hamburg. Rumored to be a Berlin CD and DVD that were never released.

Aaah so replica just means youre seing preatty much the original show, apart from the current swedish one for example? I thaught it was a name off the us tour company... Laughing

By the way there should be a HUGE market out there for local shooted cds/dvds off the latests shows in respective country but still RUG or whomever is in charge tends to ignore that market completely. I mean we are more than one who would like the current swedish show on dvd (Including me) since its so great and on our launguge so why arent theyre releasing cd/dvd rights with the show rights? Confused

The original Norwegian production was a replica production, as far as I know, and it was a grand one. It opened at Det Norske Teatret in 1985, and played for almost a year.

But the 2009 production at Chat Noir is not a replica production. I have yet to see that one. Haven't loved the pics, but I want to see how they can pull the production off in such a tiny theatre! And there's some really good cast members.

I havent tracked down any youtube videos on the current norwegian one. I found one were theyre singing Memory and it was really good and some responces even said that the actress putted a lot of emotions into the song. I dont see a tiny theathre as a disadvantage (maybe it it from an actor standpoint thou) but it should be much better contact with the scene for a tiny theathre and if theyre wouldnt have closed as soon as dec 19th it would definately would have been worth a visit.

Oh, I agree with that! And I've heard lots of good comments about how the sets and such are solved. But I have some friends in the cast/production, and they've adviced me not to sit in the front rows - cause when they're doing pirouettes, the sweat tend to hit the audience... Laughing

And I think it's very cool that "Cats" is playing in a theatre called "Black Cat" (Chat Noir).

Come to think of it, I want to see it this week. They sell large, glossy souvenir brochures which comes with a "Cats" shopping net with logo. It costs NOK 100,- (app. $17, not quite sure of the current rate). If anyone wants one of these and is able to pa me through PayPal, I'd be happy to pick up one for you. If so, PM me for more details.

if youre seeing it cant you do a review of how it was afterwards?

Well geting sweats from the actors is a nice souvernier... Laughing I didnt know they sweated that much but Id guess since its a lot off dancing involved... Wink
