Ensemble roles?I am wondering how good of a part the ensemble has in this show for children? How many songs would they do? I am trying to figure out if it is worth it if they do not get cast into the main roles of winthrop or amarylis.
Please let me know the songs they would do and how much stage time they would get - thanks!

It all depends on the production, but generally: a lot. It's a show where children are involved in almost all group scenes. Whether it's "worth it" or not, depends on your motivation in wanting/allowing your kids to do the show. If your child is a dancer, there may be an opportunity for some featured dance stuff.
But if it's a situation where it's unpaid and you're commuting 50 miles each way to drop them at rehearsal... nope, may not be "worth it."

I was in the show when I was seven years old. I did practically everything the adult ensemble did. It really depends on the director though. What has the company done in the past with shows that have kids in the ensemble? Do they feature them to a decent degree?

Yes, to echo the above posters, they can do quite a bit, depending on the production. In ours they were in every chorus scene except perhaps "Iowa Stubborn". They were in Trouble, the auditorium scene/ 76 Trombones, we did have a few kids in the Library, of course in Wells Fargo Wagon, all of the kids were in the 'band' (girls and boys), they were in the Ice cream social scenes/Shipoopi (we had some families grouped and sitting and watching the dancing going on, we also moved Shipoopi to where the movie does it), and had kids running around looking for Harold with everyone else, then of course they all came in with the band during the final scene. We had about 8-10 'little' kids (under 10) and a few teens/tweens as well, and it was the slightly older ones who got to be in some more things like Iowa Stubborn and the Library. I think we also had a teen couple in the footbridge ballet sequence, holding hands, they might have kissed each other on the cheek or something.

Our footbridge ballet sequence was a solo for Zaneeta, since she's a trained dancer. Tommy watched lovingly from the bridge as she danced around it. lol
We did have all the kids in "Iowa Stubborn" though.
