Hahahahahahhahaha! £350+ for a picture of which there are 499 more out there? He could have scanned it for all we know!

10 day listing wqith 14 hours to go and not one bid... I do wonder why!
Misto

I thought that!

Well there ya go, they waaaay outpriced themself! That auction will have cost them a small fortune because ebay charge for reserve priced items and a reserve like that...
Belle

It is a gorgeous photo... a copy hangs in the Box Office at the Adelphi Theatre, where it was taken. always loved having to wait for Chicago tickets, to get a good look at it...

still, it's not worth over £300! Up to £80, maybe...
Misto

Just had a sudden brainwave.
How would you copy that?

What, the picture? Take it out of the frame, place it on a flatbed scanner. Dunno how you'd do the name list thing so it looked like the genuine thing though...
Misto

But the price was just TOO high. £350 and reserve not met! They should have started lower and let the fans fight for it to get a good price!

Roller Boy

Ohh lookie! The CATS are opposite side of the Cast of Starllight Express, how cute.

Does that mean they are segrigated Skimbleshanks from his peeps? Laughing

~ah how nice it would be to have that to display. I for one would bid on it if I had the money.
Belle

Gayboy, the thing's about 3' wide.... would take some scanning...

I understand, and my theory isn't holding much water now, but you *can* get larger flatbed scanners, design studios etc use them all the time.
Belle

Weeeeellllll.... while £300 plus for the photo is absurd, £20 odd for the photo-guide seemed pretty good!!! I won a different auction for the guide that came with the photo, of who is where. And I have scanned it...

http://www.bellesdomain.co.uk/grouppic.html

Can those who know warly 90s london costumes check out the characters for me? The guide gives the actors' names, but not the roles, so I've been doing my best to match. But - I can't put faces to Victor or George, fair enough I'm terrible at naming chorus Toms. But where's Jellylorum??

I love the way there's Gus, Bustopher AND Growltiger all in one pic....
*asterix*

I'm pretty sure that's George in the Growltiger gear, from the left eye patch and wig colouring. At least in the later productions, I usually spotted Victor as having a similar make up style and wig colouring to Tugger - the closest I can guage from this picture would be the boy between Coricopat, Bustopher, Carbucketty and Electra.
I can't say for sure that I see a Jellylorum, either (it's strange that, with all 3 "gus" roles coverred, presumably by the priciple, walking cover and an understudy/swing, and so many apparent swings to spare, there isn't a Griddlebone, Macavity or maybe even Siamese, Peke/Pollicle etc, granted that the latter 3 would require full masks...) but I think that might be her beside Demeter, just above Skimbleshanks ... if that's not a guy Embarassed
Belle

ooh, yes, I see what you mean about George dressed up as Growltiger... heh, why not? Razz And Victor- you mean the boy with the heavy white muzzle and some streaks on the right of his wig? Aidan Treays? does the name connect to a role for anyone here?

The names are definite - well - there's no guesswork in naming the faces. The picture opens out and below is the outlines of each person, all numbered by section, and each number is listed and named on the back. So if there's any wrong names, either I've copied wrong, or the publishers got it wrong - neither inconceivable. But the cat between Demeter and Skimble is definitely named James! Wink

Figures Laughing

At first glance that cat got filed under "chorus boy" in my head, he kind of looks like the "almost Bill Bailey" swing costume that was around for a while... It wasn't until I went back specifically looking for Jellylorum, with the assumption that she must be in there somewhere, that I started filterring through each "chorus" looking cat, trying to either identify or toss gender and patterns - that was the only one where the shoulders/torso are obscured enough and hips not visible, that it was conceivable to be either a very "athletic" built woman or slightly built man, and the make up is almost generic enough - Jellylorum's had some pretty minimalistic make up patterns at times... Pretty close match for Jelly's colouring then, too but... if it's a boy it's a boy Wink I guess Jellylorum sat thissun out.
