Dutch Programmaboek / Japanese magazine cover

Anyone else get a copy of the Dutch Program Book? It's a bit dissapointing with the lack of pictures for it's size. I also miss the old Dutch costumes. But, don't you just love the long-and-lanky Mungojerry?

Original pictures:

(I've been typing in Dutch too much lately...)

Japanese head shots:

The Skimble make-up is interesting. Like the Dutch Admetus, his whole face doesn't seem to be painted. And the details on the Tugger and Demeter make-up are great.

I liked the Dutch book--I got a copy for Christmas. I just don't like Jellylorum's makeup in that one. Confused

I can see what you're saying about the lack of pics for its size, but I still think it's better than a lot of the stuff we get here in the States. I wish they'd redo a full book of the musical again with various casts.

I do like the book. It's got a lot of clear pictures in it. It's much better than those Stella books near the end of the Hamburg run with very few new pics and a lot of advertisment. The old Dutch programmes also featured a nice shot shot of every character.

I'm also dissapointed with the homogenization of the costumes toward the late London standard.

Edit: I added the old 1987 Amsterdam Photos. I love these costumes.

I personnaly didn't like the old Dutch costumes -like the Wien or French ones. So I'm glad the new Dutch costumes are based on London (and that new tour is just so great).
I guess that will be the case for every Stage Entertainment Cats production... Owww give me Cats in France please !

I miss the diff interpretations of the costume designs. I too, and sick of seeing carbon copies of the 1998-2000 latter style costume designs featured in all the "new" productions. I like seeing differences from the various costume houses.

The only reason the carbon copies are popping up, is the fact that the costumes are being reused. Stuttgart costumes went to the Netherlands for the new 2006-07 tour, and Madrid sent off theirs to Moscow.

Yeah, I think it's a Stage Holding/Joop van den Ende thing.

I think Stuttgart was before Joop van den Ende/Stage Holding bought out Stella and I think they used the Hamburg costumes. It was the first Stage Holding production in Berlin that used the UK-style costumes. Berlin re-used the Nap 15 set from Stuttgart, though. (Actually, now that I remember, van den Ende had done the Antwerp production in the 90's with UK costumes.)
