Dracula, The Musical

Has anyone here ever done it? I saw it once, and it was hysterical, but I'm not sure how easy/hard the music is, having only seen it once.
The Very Angry Woman

There are several musicals based on Dracula. Could you be more specific?

It's a Samuel French show, and it's called "Dracula, the Musical?" with the question mark. It's a farce, it's hysterical, it's one set.
Jim Colyer

I saw Blackula, the blaxploitation movie from 1972, on TV the other night.

There is also the Frank Wildhorn version trying to work it's way around the globe. Speaking of which, where's our concept album coming? There was never a recording in a cast format just the TBA concept which has been delayed too much!

Ask James Barbour.
Monsieur D'Arque

The concept album is out in other countries... The Musical Download Jukebox page hosted somewhere in Russia has a full copy of it, which i downloaded. So why are we in America unlucky?

Hi.

Thought I would re-hijack my thread and ask if anyone has any experience with the Samuel French musical called:

Dracula, the Musical?

Thanks...

I have done this musical (I was vocal director and also played Mina)!

To be perfectly honest, the music is not very well written, IMHO. However, it's one of the most fun shows I've ever done. You have to play it completely over the top for it to work. Lots of bad puns, cheesy sight gags, etc. If you try to play it as a "serious" musical, it will just end up looking stupid.

Is this something you are currently in, or considering auditioning for? I can give you more specific information if you like.

Lisa, Thank you!

It is something I am considering directing for our high school, and I could use as much info as you can give me. PM me if you would like. Thanks!!

We are doing the show this summer. The score leaves a LOT to be desired. Plan on lots of hours of work on the music, because some of the songs are very hard to figure out, and you will have to struggle through them. Otherwise, the show is hysterically funny, and should probably be played way over the top by everyone execpt maybe Dr. Seward. Lots of laughs, and it does keep you guessing!
