HI I am doing the show right now and they cast me as an Assistant Librarian, because Im a dancer, but Im tall and they couldnt find a guy to partner me, so I would be in marion the librarian and shipoopi, and I was wondering what type of dancing those two songs would require, becuse i no longer can do ballet, because I have a metal rod in my leg from getting thrown of a horse, and thats gonna be a problem. I was just hoping for your help.

they cant find a guy 2 partner you and ur in the shipoopi? when i was in mm last year we had guy partnering us in shipoopi. the dancong was kinda square dancingish but not really. im not so sure bout marian the librarian.sry if it didnt help

When i did music man over the summer, the shipoopi was more of a square dance/two-step.
Marian the Librarian was kind of vaudville-y (cheesy tap moves, etc.) We started out sitting at the table with books, tapping our toes, got up on the benches and danced, tap-danced on the floor, formed a chain and partnered with Marian...she went up on the table and did a couple of time steps, we told her to "shhh" and then we grabbed our books and walked off. (BTW...we were desperate for guys too...especially ones who could dance...so me and two of the other girls dressed up as boys for the dance scenes (Shipoopi, 76 Trombones, and Marian the Librarian).

Hmm... In our play we didn't even have Madam Librarian but the Shipoopi was like square dancing and had, I think a bit of a jazz touch to it... I don't think that helped any but it's all I can tell ya. Sorry to hear about the horse accident, though! Brandi, playing Oliver Hix, in our cast fell off a horse and later got bit by it, but she recovered just fine. Hopefully the metal rod thing won't effect your acting too much

im in the music man right now as zaneeta and i dance in all of the dances, it is mostly fast, everyone does the same stuff, 2-step stuff, u dont really have to worry to much about ballet its not really that kind of musical
