Does anyone from Scotland.....?

I wondered if anyone who is Scottish actually likes "Brigadoon" or does it just appeal to people from elsewhere?

I have been writing Scottish musicals for the best part of 10 years and by January will have seen five of my works reach the stage. I was inspired by Brigadoon as having seen the movie I was totally embarrased and concerned that people from abroad might think that Scotland was even remotely like that.

Now I will admit that the ballad element of the score (title song, Come to Me, Bend To Me, There But For You Go I, etc) is wonderful. On the other hand "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean", "Down On MacConnachy Square" and a host of others are just horrendous, almost as bad as Harry Lauder, The White Heather club and the other drivel that blighted Scottish music for so many years (until Runrig, the folk scene, the Proclaimers and the like blew it all away)

If anyone is interested is some very UnBrigadoon Scottish musicals, you can go to www.hamepages.com. But be warned, there's not am "aye Laddie!" anywhere!

Don't forget, everyone except Tommy and Jeff is from the 18th century, so their dialogue wouldn't really be representative of how people in Scotland talk now. By the same token, their music would be more in the style of traditional Scottish folk songs than anything resembling modern Scottish music.

Just thought I'd point that out, for what it's worth.
