OK, I am not the biggest Rent fan and definitely not a fan of Mimi, but she is INCREDIBLE. Like, I was blown away. She actually made me like the character after Rosario Dawson ruined it for me.

Will Chase is a much better actor than Adam Pascal as Roger. I prefer his version as Roger and it's only bested by Norbert Leo Butz. |

You're joking. I find Will Chase to be absolutely dreadful - what do you enjoy/appreciate in his portrayl of Roger? And I'll definitely say that Adam's Roger sucked more and more as time went on, but it was great back in the 90s when the show was still developing/new. Are you basing that on his more recent stints with the show? |

Will's acting and general performance is more believable. Also I enjoy his vocal technique better. He's honest as Roger and I like it. I can't disagree more with you about Adam. Adam has only gotten better over the years in acting and vocal technique. He still refuses vocal training which is going to kill him soon, especially if he keeps doing Chess The Musical, but his acting is alot more bearable. |

Will Chase's acting definitely rivals Adam's, if not surpasses it, in my opinion. I think both's performances are amazing (Adam's singing is spectacular, obviously).
On other FLOB topics: Eden was not up to par. Renee was amazing. |

^^ Omg I KNOW. She looked terrible, and her acting was pretty bad too. The singing, while good, was just TOO much IMO. Overall, she wasn't right for the role

Yes. I haven't seen her Elphaba live, but I did see her live as Maureen. It wasn't pretty... she cracked like three times in Over the Moon. And it was the day before the taping... aka the Last Public Performance | ||||||

Also something about Will Chase's very blue always slightly watery eyes gives the vibe of recovering druggie. Whilst Adam just looks like a rocker. |

RENT Live on Broadway DVDI don't particularly like either of them.
I'll go with that. She's too put together, nowhere near raw enough. I don't buy her as someone coming down on drugs desperate and she seems more like someone who goes around auditioning to get into a Broadway show than someone that dances at an S&M strip club. She's gets the character better in Out Tonight though and certainly she's not a bad performer, just not right for Mimi, I think.
Will Chase doesn't sound right for Roger at all and his acting (in this sequence at least) is just about non-existent. This hardly even qualifies as interpretation; it's completely mediocre at best. I don't think he's believable at all. Later days David |
