What a silly question!

I positively would if I had the chance, I went to London when I was a kid and my parents went to see it without me. I asked my dad to tell me the story of the Jellicles and Old Deuteronomy and Grizabella and the song Memory that I knew from Barbara Streisand. Ever since I've always wanted to go and see Cats, luckily they came to Spain. But still, one of my dreams was to watch Cats from that rotating thing that was between the chairs...

Yesh. Revivals = happy times. I'd go.

I definately would. If I could that is. If I had extra money. But no, I wouldn't pay for the flight tickets etc. just to see Cats.

It would need to be a spectacular production - more than the cut-character tours with no audience interaction. If they put a lot of money into making it the best production of Cats ever, then it'd be fantastic. But if they didn't put that effort in, and didn't make it very clear that this Broadway revival was so much better than the regional production, then they would not get the audience. Of course every fan would love it to be back on Broadway, and would do whatever they could to see it there, surely that's the definiteion of a fan? But fan support alone would not make it work. And I would prefer they didn't revive it, rather than a low-quality production that then flops.

By the way... I missread the title of the post (actually I didn't finish reading it) and instead of reading Broadway I thought I read London... don't ask why...
Anyway, I wish I could go to London and see it properly. And if I could I'd go to Broadway aswell!!!

I agree with Belle. If they really put the effort into it (like the've done in Japan with the current show there) it would be great. And I just might pony up the money to travel to New York to see it.
Which makes me think... My brother just got a job offer in NY - Crash space!

I also agree with Belleon this point. Only I want to add: THis would also be good for the NewLondon theater and Such, I would love to see Cats in London, and Starlight Express London.

I would love to see Cats on Broadway, but I don't have enough money to fly to USA for a show but maybe, if we decided to visit New York and spend some days there ... who knows

I agree with everyone else, but I'm with Roller Boy and would rather see Starlight Express and Cats in London.

Not yet.
It was/is a wonderful show that had a magnificent run on Broadway. I would go back to Bway and see it in a heartbeat if it did reopen...
but it shouldn't yet. It's not time. Not enough time has passsed since CATS first life on Bway was concluded. Since it ended, the Tour ahs been giong on and every regional theatre is jumping on their chance to run this show, no matter how shoddy it comes out. Though Bway and London are closed, the market is saturated still. It's still prevalant in people's minds, it's still a running joke (see the VH1 thread of I love the 80's), and it's not enough 'missed' yet except by those die hards, and we've proven that we aren't enough to keep it where it belongs.
I can't say when the time will be right. Maybe when regional-mania dies down a little. Maybe jsut a few more years, but I can't say for sure. This show is a spectacular piece and needs to be appreciated for what it is, not what it WAS. When it comes back I'm sure it will be incredible, with all the regionals and tours there have been, there are 'new' ideas to make the show even more spectacular, when it's time. A cat bides it's time well...it will come again when the time is right, and the world will take notice.

I completely agree with SadieCass.
Should it return to Broadway? No, not for a while. Give it a respectable rest of 15 or 20 years before reviving it.
Would I go see it if it reopened? Heck, yes. But like others have said, I would hope they would take the time to do it justice; make it just as spectacular as the first Broadway production.

Well, I'm going to disagree with everyone and say that it should have a revival in Australia

But...WHY Australia Spylfyr? *smiles innocently* *giggle* If it weren't so blasted expensive to go there, I'd say sure

15 years of waiting for a revival?
How long did they wait for Les Mis?
(Which will be having it's revival this year, starting Nov. 9)

If there will ever be a revival of Cats in Broadway, I will be first in line to book a flight, no matter if I have to spend one year eating bread and water!!!

Indeed.
I'd also go in costume if possible.
I can imagine huge groups of people from the CATS forums getting together in huge groups to reserve all the seats and go take up the entire theater.
But also agreed I'd want to see it as a revival that they put effort into, that would make it worthy of being known as a revival.

Should CATS Return to Broadway?OF COURSE IT SHOULD!!! Although it is showing in England. Not in London, but it is showing in a few lesser known Theaters, such as Stoke-on-Trent (which is just outside of London in Piccadilly I think).

I think so.
Cats is unlike any other musical. Major chords of music-PHENOMENAL dancing needed with ACUTE attention to detail and character...I mean-why WOULDNT the audience want to see a bunch of cats dancing around...
...and let's not forget "Memory"...well...I CANT forget it...it's MEMORY...buh dum chhhhhhh Hahahahhaa I'm a dork

Wait a minute!
I just read that Les Mis only stopped three years ago!
But I already know that the revival is scheduled for THIS YEAR!
That's.... I mean, it's good, and I really love it, but I don't think it's right to now call it "the longest running" surpassing CATS!! I mean, CATS had the longest in it's First run through, and wasn't actually surpassed by any other show going through a first run through untill Phantom. So while Les Mis will surpass it in # of performances...it's still in third place in my book for performances in a first run through.
Of course, CATS will always be first to me though, because I think it's better than Phantom. (not a biased opinion, and not an obsessive one either.)
