DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS IS CLOSING!!!On Sept. 3, it's horrible, although it proves one man carried that show cuz the attendence went down like 50% the week after Butz left. I wonder also do u think that they will give out the rights soon (through MTI since that who owns it) or does that happen after the tour is over, meaning the rights won't be coming out for like another year (cuz the tour is like just starting)?

that show was carried by the whole original cast. Lithgow,Butz,Gleason, etc.... trouble is that most cast replacements cant compete. its a very specific style of humor to get down.

as utterly depressed I am right now that this is closing while Wicked still goes on, I'm also mildly excited because my friends and I began casting this show in our heads for our next amatuer production as soon we walked out of the theater after we saw it.

such a shame..I haven't seen/heard it..except certain songs that my friend has on her IPod..but I like what I've heard and it seems really interesting..but yeah I guess the original cast left hard shoes to fill..anyway the tour is coming near me soon..does anyone know if the touring cast is worth seeing?..I really want to go to the show!

Such a shame. This show should contine!!!!! It is a good show, although I think it did rely on its stars a little too much.

Price outdid Lithgow, but outside of that you're right the current leads suck. And they're who people are paying $100+ a ticket to see. It's not fair to keep the show open if they aren't worth the price.

To be honest, without Norbert and John, I think this will become a valuable asset to the "small professional theatre group" repertoire. A show with two male leads of the contrasting type, one legit, one rock belter, is rare, and many pro companies in a city like Pittsburgh have both, so this show will become, much like Beauty and the Beast, a staple of the above-community theatre.

I know we're already sniffing around for the rights to it for the 2008 season.

I can see this being the new Beauty and the Beast, easily, for small pro theatre. If you can do Rocky Horror, you can do Scoundrels. The casting can be described thus:
IF you play/Chances are you could play
The Narrator or Frank/Lawrence
Rocky, Eddie or Riff/Freddy
Janet or Columbia/Christine or Jolene
Magenta/Muriel
Brad, Riff Raff or Dr. Scott/Andre
Those aren't perfect, but it's a good casting estimate. If your range or style is wrong for one of those characters, chances are you'd have less of a chance at the others.
