DilemmaI was all set to audition for Once Upon a Mattress this weekend, becuase our spring musical at school had not yet been announced, and it was rumored to be either Oklahoma or Brigadoon. Well, it turns out it's actually the Secret Garden.
I love both OUaM and Secret Garden (whose auditions are December 12-14), so now I don't know what to do. I really enjoyed doing the school show last year, but at the same time, doing a show at the company putting on OUaM gives me an edge in the $500 scholarship they give out. It is likely that if I got into OUaM, I would have a smaller part (probably a lady in waiting, if anything). I don't know when I would find out if I made it into OUaM, and I know that it's bad to audition for two shows at once (they perform the same dates), but I feel like that's all I can do! So, what should I do?
If it helps, by the way, I am 17 years old (OUaM is 16+), 5'11'', overweight, a fair dancer who picks up on choreography really quickly, and everyone complements my singing voice. Past roles I've played are Silly Girl/Napkin (BatB), Stepmother (ITW), Berthe (Pippin), and Aunt Em (The Wiz), along with many shows in the ensemble.
Please and thank you for your help!
