Differences?

I recently got into thinking; what are the differences between the movie and the stage versions? I have only seen the movie, so... I am pretty uncultured as far as the show goes!

There are a lot.

-The choreography is a bit different.

-They took out most of the four parts of the montage; they kept Nothing, shortened Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen to barely anything, removed Mother, and removed Gimme the Ball

-They added Surprise

-They changed Judy's name from Judy Turner to Judy Monroe

-Zach has no assistant in the show

-Cassie sings What I Did For Love as a love ballad about her/Zach in the movie; in the show, it's originally sung by Diana (then joined by the company), and is a song about the love of dance

-Sing! is taken out

-And... is taken out

-A lot of the characters' backstories are either added to or taken from because of the removal of so many of the songs

-Mike grabs Richie and they do a two-person tap combo for a little while in the movie; in the show, this doesn't happen

-Music and the Mirror is replaced with Let Me Dance For You

-In the show, Cassie arrives towards the beginning of the audition and is on the line with the other dancers for most of the show; in the movie, she doesn't actually get on the line until after Paul's monologue

-They turn the Bows song in the show into more of a closing number for the dancers on the line; in the show, also, the cut dancers come out to dance in the Bows, and they don't in One (in the movie).

who do you think larry is supposed to be?

Larry is Zach's assistant in the stage version.

The movie is the worst piece of junk I have EVER seen. Please distance yourself far, far from it. Ugh!!!

AMEN! I really want a good version done.

the thing is, i don't think a GOOD movie version can be done of a chorus line...it's so simplistic with sets/costumes/etc. i think it's made for the Broadway stage and should PERMANENTLY remain there.
the only "movie" of a chorus line that i would watch would be a direct video taping-- like the one of Cats that came out.

The assistent we are talking about is the girl who zach sends to tell cassie to go away. This is the person who is not in the show.
