Died too early?i would have thought that this show had the potentail for a few more years on the West End? The music is really beautiful and some of the songs (wick?!) are very catchy. Why was it taken off so early? anybody know?

No idea why it went so early...but i soooo agree! I mean think of "Race you to the top of the morning" its like the perfect song. it has a bit of everything AND its really sad. I mean imagine listening to Philip Quast..."...and take me instead" I bet that echoed around the theatre!
Yeah bring it back!
Wick...erm..its catch-ability(?!) is questionable bex...but each to their own!

A friend of mine got me hooked on this show (and musical theatre to be honest) and you sound so much like him! but it is catchy! when ever my mother is gardening (i am not one of these sad middle aged women who still lives with her mother btw, i am only 17) i dance around singing it! it makes her laugh!

Only if it's the Broadway version.

Forget the keys. Think about the dancing gardeners.

yeah....beats broadway. 'hey...act, then as soon as i hear an instrument, i shall stop dead still, turn, face the audience and sing, then once i have been clapped, i shall return to acting.'

It left the west end because it was done by the RSC and their shows only usually run for a year or so. But it must come back - I love it

My best friend played Mary Lennox: Natalie Morgan - she's on the British soundtrack i believe.
She's played Lucy Harris in Jekyll and Hyde with me as Jekyll/Hyde
and we're now playing Michael and Jennifer in the welsh premiere of Witches of Eastwick.

I love love love the musical, but only the broadway version. The London recording isn't bad to listen to, but the adaption of the libretto is plain and lost most of its attraction, IMHO. Besides, the cast makes most songs sound annoying to me.
I love Philip Quast and the reason I listen to the London cast recording is him. Yet I'm disappointed and I feel he was far from his best in this production.
Well, I think my answer is Yes if it's a b'way version, or at least not the RSC version please. Find a better adaptor if you do want some changes to the b'way production.
