Did anyone ever wonder...Since Daphne Rubin Vega was pregnant, Why they didn't use Yassmin Alers or anyone else instead of Rosario Dawson? It would have been much better if she played Mimi.

They probably considered past Broadway stars, but they seemed to think Rosario was the best choice.

They wanted to attract all the Rosario Dawson fans. An extremely slim demographic outside of mental wards, but you can't blame them for trying.

they usually (when transferring from stage to screen) go with screen actors. i dont know about ALL the obc, but i know several of them were in films or on tv. so, my guess is that rosario has in front of the camera experience that Yassmin might not. i wish it coulda been jen talton colby personally. my next fave mimi after daphne.
i wish they woulda just thrown bunches of money at fredi. i still cant get over her not doing joanne. argh!
but, in a perfect world, daphne and fredi woulda been there...

yeah...You all are probably right. RENT the movie tried to attract more of the movie goers anyway, so they went for Rosario. It would have been quite different, though.

I'm just thankful we didn't end up with Brittany Spears as Maureen, Beyonce as Mimi, Justin Timberlake as Roger, Clay Aiken as Mark and Usher as Collins....

rosario dawson made the whole movie look fake!! it was like nice, raw, amazing talent, and then HER lurking around like a synthesized hollywood starlette...i dont like the way out tonight sounds...when she sings NEON AND CHROME...sounds so fake.
