Did anyone else do this?During "I'll Cover You (reprise)" I found my self singing with the cast. You know, their background stuff during the bridge/chorus. I did this to keep from crying.
A lot of people rose out of their seats, stood, and held their lighters up in the air.
It was so moving.

I hope no one else did that. Singing during a live performance is extremely disrespectful of the performers and of other audience members. Also, holding up lighters in a theatre is dangerous and probably illegal, as well as disrespectful.

I've seen Rent seven times (live), INCLUDING the incredibly emotional closing night of the Benny tour, and have never seen anything like that even remotely happen.
Your tale is a Manute Bol.

People held out lighters during a movie? Wow...I think I'd be a little afraid of those people.

I would've had fun with a water bottle.

Sorry, no I didn't do that. When I went, there was nobody else in the theater so me and my friends danced around the whole time. I just didn't think the movie was that, well...moving.
