Detroit

Okay, i know this is very late, but i cant get online regularly.

All's i wanted to say is that when the tour came to Detroit - at the Fisher Theatre - in Februaray, it was so awesome! To see that Fosse-style choreography live...!

Now, i like Robin Givens - she can sing and act - but she didnt dance as well as the other girls. Her movements just werent as smooth. Maybe it's because she is shorter, i do not know. But, she wasnt terrible.

Carol Woods is now my favourite Mama. She was just absolutely fabulous! Better than Queen Latifa, better than whats-her-name on the revival soundtrack. I love her. I listen to the recording i made of the show all the time and just love her "When You're Good To Mama".

Greg Evigan had just joined the tour - i think i was at his first performance. Let me tell you, he was perfect for the role. He just fit it and owned it. The man can still sing (i havent heard him sing since My Two Dads), he acts the part perfectly, and has great movement. It just felt like he was Billy Flynn. I really like Richard Gere's acting, but not singing - but with Greg, it was ALL right.

Finally, Terra C. McLeod was just amazing as Velma Kelly. I've never known one that i havent liked - Chita Rivera, Bebe Neuwirth (on soundtrack) or Catherine Zeta-Jones - but i LOVED her interpretation.

All in all, the show was amazingly fabulous and i wish i had snuck in a camcorder. If i can end up finiding a bootleg video with this cast - or at least with the players i mentioned in my "review" - it'll be perfect!
Ender

i saw it in Detroit also. wasn't going to go, but got free tix...good seats too.

Robin Givens ROCKED. there were a few small things i didn't like about the musical, BUT a lot of those stemmed from being used to the movie.

still and all, i really enjoyed it.
