Defying Gravity Reprise

I think there may have been a thread about this before, but I searched and couldn't find one.

Anyway, I was wondering if it was common knowledge that there was a reprise of 'Defying Gravity' in the 'Wicked Witch of the East' scene in one of the earlier drafts of the score.
I've got the music for it, and I think it sounds pretty good. It originally went in when Nessa tells Elphaba that their father is dead, and Elphaba says, "It's better, now it's just us..." and then she sings a bit of 'Defying Gravity', with a nice little changed bit at the end.

Would anyone have liked to have seen this kept in?

NB I'm gonna try and upload either me playing it on piano, or singing it (oo-er) today, so people can get a hear of it.

Forgive my singing.

The lyrics you sang at the end of the video are the exact same lyrics Elphaba sings with Glinda in the actual song.

I heard that they were different lyrics...
music is my life!!!

i had no idea about that! it's quite funky, but i think it's more impacting without it in the show. anyway, wwote scene is pretty complicated without another song.... good song though! thanks for uploading!

Very Happy

I think the same lyrics hold up fine, but here, they apply to Nessarose and Elphaba - maybe an earlier version had different lyrics.

I'm not really sure how I would feel about it being there, I like it a lot better then the "Unlimited" part that was in the original score of "No Good Deed"
That part would have just been a bit too redundant.

I think if the reprise was played from day one, I would like it. It defiantly fits in with the scene.

Someone put the lyrics up on YouTube.com...it's the poster singing it, but it'll give you the lyrics all the same. If you do a search of "Defy Gravity Reprise" you should be able to find it.
