Darkening Up?

As you all know, I'm playing Maria. My only problem is that I am a pasty white Jewish girl. Tony is like four shades darker than me. So, my question is, how did you former Sharks darken up for the show?

So far, I've been using that Jergens lotion that's supposed to make you darker...and Tony's still darker than me. I'm not going to have time to self-tan before the show with tech week and everything, and I don't want to be orange. Any solutions?

Do you have those fake tan moisturisers in the US? Johnson's, Dove and Olay do good ones over here, just put them on everyday and a tan should build gradually - you don't get the streaks you do with fake tan, and it doesn't take half the time. But still make sure you wash your hands Razz

my drama teacher (who is so pale it's not funny) Mr. Green played Bernardo in college back before self tanning lotions were made and he rubbed Hershey's cocoa powder on his the parts of his skin that were visible (arms, face) but that might be harder for maria since your legs and everything will be showing....

And just to point out, Puerto Ricans arent really super dark naturally.
I mean, yes they arent fair skinned or anything, but they arent super dark either.
