Dancing

How dance heavy is R&H's Cinderella?

When do they dance, if ever, and what type of dance (and who dances it) is it?
Wavy Blue

In the production I'm in now, we danced for The Prince is Giving A Ball, just simple choreography by our dance instructor. Your Majesty's Dance can be danced to, I suppose, but in our show we just bring food out to the King and Queen. The only time there is a lot of dancing is in Act II. There is a slow gavotte at the beginning of the scene, and then later a waltz. But other than that, there is nothing.

Dance

I am directing the show now, and our production will have a lot of dance.I am using 10 fairies, all named after gemstones to open the show. They also do a completely choreograped Ballet for the transformation. Of coures Cinderella and the Prince do a waltz and the entire cast dances the opening. I am also staging the Gavotte as the Itch ballet. The two step sisters pick up a feather dropped by the fairy Godmother, after dusting it with itch powder. They maKE A fool of themselves by scratching through the number. I've always hated boreing dance numbers and this really livens up the ball! Cam
