!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dance Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:!:

for my school dance class, our teacher asked for a song suggestion for us to dance too. I recomended we do one from Wicked. This dance will not even be preformed infront of parents, just our class mates who choose to come at the end of the quater. What song from Wicked, do you think would be best to learn a dance to?

If you must do one from Wicked, don't pick Popular.
By the end of choreography you will want to pick up the stereo and fling it across the room. (Personal experience)

Dancing through Life

Sorry, I just had to say it.
Belle

I'd suggest either One Short Day or Dancing Thru Life - they have the best beats for dancing, but you'd need to be quite clever about editing either down to a dancable length, cutting out the talking/still bits.

One Short Day would be could be way more creative. I always thought the part w/"Whose the sage/Whose major..." should be done with canes and top hats...kind of a neo fosse thing...

With that in mind you could do Wonderful...if you could listen to that song long enough to do choreography to it! Razz

At the end of Wonderful Elphaba and the Wizard danced together...or at least they did until the London production cut the dance out, and the other followed suit. Except in Chicago.

I liked it Sad

Dancing Through Life tells too much of a story and doesn't make much sense out of context... unless you can get a recording of the solo version, or play the karaoke version (and optionally have someone sing along), don't do it.

In a dance class that I taking we are doing a routin to I'm not that girl, so that might be a good song.

I think I will go with Wonderful and One Short Day (i am supposed to have a couple of songs for the teacher to listen too) Thanks!

Personally I think that a song from wicked will not be the best choice! I love wicked but surely there are so many hundreds of great songs out there which are much better suited for dancing. Of course it depends on whta type of dance you are talking about however I feel that by choosing a song from Wicked you will just be making life harder for yourself as very few of the songs have very fast strong beats. I can only think of 'Dancing through life' and 'What is this feeling' , however choreographing a dance to either of these will have its restrictions as mentioned above, the soeaking inbetwen etc.

My friends dance school did one short day before wicked was in the UK and it looked good on stage!

We ended up not doing wicked, but are doing Cell Block Tango from Chicogo instead. At least its a showtune which most people at my school can't say. They all want to do dances to the "new hip" music.

Thats a better choice... I've done that before we won 6 competitions with it.
It was amazing.

I would think that Dancing through life would be a good one, or one short day. Wonderful might be good if you are in a tap class.
