Crying?

Okay I know this is weird, but does anyone ever find themselves just randomly crying whenever you hear a certain "Rent" song? I always end up crying during I'll cover and repirse and Goodbye love. Embarassed

I'm sure you aren't that unique.
Monsieur D'Arque

Not that unique in any way, Mr./Ms. Hearts-In-My-Name, Uses-No-Punctuation, Thinks-Sondheim-Wrote-Wicked, Can't-Name-Two-Berenstein-Shows, Non-Elitist, Head-Not-Entirely-Up-Butt, Young-Naive-And-Innocent, Still-Relatively-Blameless n00b Renthead. Be careful. The world is cruel to small animals like you.

Jesus. . you people are rude.

Ignore them Wilson. . some people have so little control in their personal lives they need to try and feel powerful in some arena, even if it is pathetic enough to be an internet message board.

Sm**chies!

Jacob.

Im not a big fan of the show myself, i like it but i love I'll Cover You Reprise. I can see where you're coming from about crying but nah it's not quite it for me Smile

And yet others have not perfected the art of directly addressing those who annoy them.

You're the sad little animal actually. Must you, Monsieur D'Arque, really take your aggression out on someone who is only trying to express themselves? Isn't the reason for a forum like this one to meet others who share your interests? Such a sad existence you must live. I'm done anyways, fighting over the interent is just retarded.
Luc

At least we're not being stupid and actually fighting on an Internet Board. That would be just plain ridiculous. Rolling Eyes

Yo guys, back off. Bit harsh, don't you think? I don't really cry when I hear the Rent songs, but I have teared up while listening to Goodbye, Love. Of course, there were other circumstances surrounding it.

Dear The Very Angry Woman,

I understand that I am new to this message board, and that you seem to have some sort of senority over much of the posters here. . Yet, in the future. . when people are expressing their opinions, emotions, etc . . could you try a bit harder to realize everyone's right to discussion, and a try a bit less to divide and belittle people who are looking for interesting places to discuss the forms of art they love?

I'd certainly appreciate it.

Also, if there's anything personally going on to you that creates this need you seem to have for power, self-importance, or "bullying". . please don't hesitate to discuss them. Maybe a bit of support is all you need.

Sincerely,

Jacob.

You seem like a perfectly decent young man who is as nice as he is completely and utterly misguided.

Even I am getting bored by this... Next step is locking the thread...

The whole concept of a Forum is to debate points of the Subject Musical, which is this case is RENT. Whether the poster is offering information, an opinion or a point of debate, the concept is to comment on the SUBJECT of the posting and not the PERSON posting it...

Please stay within the parameters of the Forum - which includes respect for ALL posters...

I'm dreadfully sorry to have offended you, not kidding, but did you not really read the last few names in my tirade? They were not insulting, but merely stating that the person is new here. In fact, most of that post was intended to poke fun at the recent onslaught against new, naive members. If you remember, I'm usually on the side of whoever's wrong in a situation. It's a wonder I haven't been banned yet, to tell the truth. And the post was made in an attitude of sarcasm, not cruelty to Rentheads or Wickieboppers.

I'm a Wickiebopper-For-Reform myself, trying to get people to look at the shallow Wicked as if it were a complex piece with meaning and multiple layers. I think if performers tackled it from that angle, instead of from the "idina and cheno" side, they'd make it a much better piece and not a spectacle show as much.

And, I love RENT.

Ooooookaaaaaay....back on topic.

I guess from the moment Maureen desperately cries for help because they can't get Mimi up the stairs and as they realize how serious Mimi's condition is. Not sure if that is considered a "RENT song" however.

Are you talking about the thread being posted, or are you talking about the responses??

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to write all that? Seems like a little bit of a waste to me. Started as mildly humourous, should have quit while ahead.

That was a long list of people arguing, lol.

For me, i get choked up for "I'll Cover You (Reprise)", Mimi's part in "Goodbye Love", "Without You" sometimes. And, i agree - even if it's not a song - when Maureen cries out for help for Mimi on the soundtrack and Mimi saying "don't waste your money on me, me, me, me...". But, theres music and it's partially sung, so i guess it counts. Mr. Green

Most people would be more comfortable if those who stand up for what's right shut up.

It doesn't mean they should.

Your right, as always I have a tendency to overreact. What is sad is that this topic just turned out to be a spot for everyone to start fighting, what a shame.
