Well...I've only ever seen the movie, so I don't know what the stage costumes are like aaand...I was wondering how the costumes differ between the two, as I'm sure they do. I've tried googling for pictures to compare, but it only comes up with the movie version..so meh. Confused Sooo...could anyone tell me how they differ and possibly show pics so I can see for myself too? Very Happy Thank yooou! Wink

Try harder? Surprised
Well thank you for giving me those links, but I think 'Try harder' as if I didn't bother was a tad unnecessary.
I think I'll stick to reading other posts rather then trying to join in. Neutral

Aw, don't let The Very Angry Woman discourage you from posting, she's just helping in her own little Razz

You'll get used to her sooner or later!

In general, the movie aimed for a 1865ish style (the story is set in 1870, but especially the female dresses are a tad earlier than that) and seems to be inspired by many sources (Disney especially, but they've also kept the colour scheme from the stage musical for most scenes/costumes. There's also a similarity between the Hungarian production design and the movie). As for the stage costumes, they're also set a tad earlier than what the storyline tells (1881 is often mentioned, whereas the costumes - again especially the female ones - have many 1874-77ish features).

I hope that helped!
