Hi All,

Firstly am loving this site. Its my one stop place for musical info and opinions.

For the past year i've been piecing together a little idea I've had to write a brand new musical. I'd like to make it an online project with contributors from all over the world, althought it doesnt have to be solely online - i'm based in London, UK so anyone near by also look me up. I thought here would be a great place to advertise it and see if any folk out there have any hidden skills (or overt ones) in script writing, song writing, orchestrating, that kind of thing.

I'm working on getting a website up and running very soon to show case the work i've done so far. I have come up with a plot and written about 50 % of the songs so am looking for others who I could share and complete this project with.

Even if you dont have any particular skills but are good with constructive critiscism then that will do. I'll hopefully post updates here too when things are added to the site.

In the meantime anyone who wants to get hold of me can leave me a message here and i'll get back to them.

The plot centres around a young lad from England who has a hidden dream to become a Hollywood actor. The story follows him going in pursuit of his dream and meeting a whole lot of crazy people in between.

The twist in this musical is that he meets a girl who has been involved in the hollywood lifestyle all her life. She is trying to escape, where as he is trying to pursue it. The musical is going to explore the angst of them loving each other but heading in different directions in terms of the life they want to live.

That good enough for a different angle to the ones you see with similar plots or it all been done before?

Certainly more interesting than Jade Goody the Musical...

What kind of style are you thinking of having the show? (By that I mean is it meant to have light or dark humour and is it meant to be a satrical show? Just curious ^^; )

You obviously have no idea of the complexities of writing a musical...its painful, it tears your heart out, when your songs are not perfect you have to throw them away. You end up killing characters you once loved. Your personal relationships reach the lowest point. People rip your story to pieces...and not wishing to offend, your idea of a storyline is pretty tame. You lose all your money trying to convince people that you have something worthy of their intention.

Best idea is to get the rights to a film eg: Precilla queen of the desert...shoehorn in a few crap pop songs, get an agency to tell joe public its a musical, and there you go!

True, true! But on the other hand its good that there is people who despite that showstoppers wants to create theyre own ideas. And in the movie fan fiction there is severel projects where people done gathered and meeted through a forum and is operating all over the world to contribute to this one production. So chears to the idea and hope you have the will and determation to see it come thrue!

As for the idea its not that original and even Ive been working around that subject since there is so many youngsters out there dreaming about hollywood and make it to disneychannel and theyre thinks acting is a short cut to famous and money. So the subject definately needs more musicals but the trick is to do it in a fresh looking way, with a twist that make it look brand new.
