Contrasting Tenor songs

I'm getting started on pulling together songs to sing for college auditions.

My two "showcase" pieces are What Do I Need With Love and What You'd Call a Dream.

How overdone is What Do I Need with Love?

Also, they're both fairly new, but What You'd Call a Dream is more obscure, so I think that's the one I want to keep.

What are some rangy uptempo tenor pieces (from old and new musicals)
Thanks so much![/quote]

Re: Contrasting Tenor songs

"What Do I Need With Love" is pretty overdone from what I hear.

"What do I need with love" is overdone, I would try and find something else to be honest. I don't know "What you'd call a dream", where is that from?? Confused If it's from a new show I would make sure your uptempo/character is from the classic MT era (before 1970). Rangy uptempo tenor from that era....something like

"The most beautiful girl in the world" from Jumbo

or

"She is not thinking of me" from Gigi

Just the first two that popped into my head...

a great song that i've found is Younger than Springtime from south pacific, maybe look at that? (Hallelujah Come on) Get Happy is a nice contrast? Look into older material - Oldies are Goldies!
