College Auditions

In February I am going to San Fran for the National Unified Auditions to audition for 4 theatre schools. I am applying to their musical theatre programs so I am required to do 2 monologues, 2 songs and a dance portion, although each one differs slightly in requirements. What I was wondering is if anyone has gone through these auditions before who might be able to give me a taste on what it is like. Some pointers on these type of auditions would be much appreciated as well.

Hello there! I'm currently a college musical theatre freshman. I did not do unifieds, but I did audition at four different schools. The best advice I can give you may sounds stupid, but I found it to be the truth. Know your material inside, out and backwards. Chances are, you are going to be nervous, even if you don't think you will be. Although, remeber that if you mess up, just keep going. You are auditioning to go to school, to be trained. I can't speak for all schools, but I would hope they are looking at you as something to be molded and trained, not perfection. Stick to the time limits too. Those are very important.

So yeah, know your material, relax and before you know it, they will be over!

Hope that helps some, and if there is anything I could help you with, let me know!
