College Audition. Help. Opinions are nice.

I need a song for my college audition. I already went through the audition songs thread, and didn't find anything I liked.

I have my one classical song and my one contemporary upbeat song, but I can't pick a pre-1970's ballad.

My original choice was I Remember Sky from Evening Primrose, but then I read about how it's a bad idea to use Sondheim, so I changed my mind about that.

I consider myself a mezzo, but I can go as high as Christine's last note in Phantom (of The Opera), and as low as a G below middle C (I really can't go lower than that.)

So I need a ballad that's pre-1970's.
My ideas are:

Once You Lose Your Heart from Me and My Girl

I've Never Said I Love You from Dear World

Boys and Girls Like You and Me from R&H (It was used in pretty much EVERYTHING, does this even count as a ballad?)

Possibly Hold On from Secret Garden, but that seems to be Overdone, and it's not really a ballad.

If anyone has any other ideas, or thinks that one of these songs will be best in terms of uniqueness/showing off range, please let me know.

[I'm showing my high range in my classical song, and I'm belting in my contemporary song.]

Thank you in advance!

Hold On is quite low and probably isn't suitable.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with any of the other songs you are considering.
Good luck Smile

I'm also not familiar with any of the songs other than "Hold On," but I just wanted to add "The Secret Garden" isn't a pre-1970 show, it opened on Broadway in 1991.
