Clue The Musical

Anyone familiar with it? Can you tell me a little about it?

I mean, I've read the plot synopsis and listened to some clips on youtube, but I was hoping I could get some opinions on it. Is it fun? Good music? Crowd pleaser? Crowd bringer?

Thanks!

I've never seen the show, but I know that part of the reason why it failed on Broadway was that the ending changed nightly with the audiences choosing. And as their are thousands of different ways a game of clue can end, it was just too much for the actors.

The premise of the show is very interesting to me, and I love a good game of Clue. I know I'd go to see it Smile
Monsieur D'Arque

An okay show, but there is a very little known, and better, stage version. It's based on the classic cult film (and Rocky Horror homage) with Tim Curry. I don't think it's a musical, but despite that, it's much better. Inconcievable Productions performed it, and they were hysterical.

Our community theater did it last season. I wasn't in it, but I saw it.
The music is ... somewhat strange. Not difficult, but, just strange. Not bad.
It was a big crown pleaser. People loved it. Switching the endings is not hard at all- Mr. Boddy is the only one who knows "who id it" and there is a special scene that if the actor is approached by Boddy with that scene, they know that they did it. Plus there is a twist at the end with the "true" killer, always the same.
Our theater did it very creatively, I thought, and had a pretty good cast. As long as the cast is experienced, it will be a crowd pleaser. It is very cheesy, but you really have to play it up for it to be funny and not lame.
Here's a link to our theater's photos:

We brought two sides of audience onto the stage, to make it 3/4 round. The whole stage had blocks like the playing board of the game on it. Pretty cute. The rooms were just represented by a piece of furniture or a wall, which you can sort of see in the pictures.

Are you thinking of directing it?

It is not like the movie. The movie took the characters of the game and made them real characters. The musical takes the game and brings the boardgame to life. Like, a few times the characters reference being gamepices and the cover going on the box and such. Kinda cheesy, but everyone who saw it liked it at our theater.

I'm a Clue fan!

Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

I love the game Clue, and I'd love to see the show. I'll bet that Miss Scarlet gets a sexy solo.

I always used to stare at the character cards and imagine scandalous affairs between the characters. I think that I always paired Miss Scarlet with Colonial Mustard!

I'm curious to know if anyone ever paired the characters up with each other. I even created a Clue storyline.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I know I've thought about it! Very Happy
Baker

Miss Scarlet and Mr. Green.

The others can be matched at will - Plum and White, White and Mustard, Mustard and Peacock, Peacock and Plum, all depends on your view.

Very Happy
Roger's Chica

PappyCat - I don't know if this is too late, but talk to Chev. The role of Mrs. Peacock was written for her.
