Circus, Mime, Clown, other kinds of performance art?

Anyone do any acrobatics? Magic? Etc?

I was buzzing around backstagejobs.com looking at what kind of options property masters have and I came across a circus that was hiring one. I've been on a circus kick lately. For some reason, that sort of environment really appeals to me. Not as a performer of course (I'm not exactly meant to fly through the air in a trapeze) but just in general.

I was a carnie back in my younger days, and for a short period of time travelled with a lion show. It was really fun, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as a 50 year old. Seems to be the kind of stuff you don't grow old doing (although Pat White is still taming lions - she's awesome, and I've known her since we were 20).

I was a street juggler back in my old college days. Me and my buddies put together an act and had a lot of fun with it.

I know a girl who's a bareback rider with Circus Flora, and Josh Routh, who's an amazing circus performer. And my arts organization brings in Sacha Pavlata to teach circus camps every summer.

Yay, circus!

One of the couples I am good friends with at the university consists of a magician and a contortionist. He makes SO MUCH money doing magic shows for kids, it's absolutely insane.

Additionally, my boyfriend is a stilt walker and there's a lot of demand for his troupe and him too. I believe he once got paid $300 to walk around Holt Renfrew for two half-hour shifts during a "favourite shoppers" event.

Yeah. Special skills like that? You can take them right to the bank.

Ballroom dancing too, apparently.

I've posted pictures of myself doing it before, but I do aerial silks and Spanish Web, two kinds of aerial circus (aka, they involve things hanging from high places). I loooove love love it. It's completely addicting, although very physically demanding. I thought I hated it at first because of how difficult it was, but once I stopped doing it, I had to start again because I missed it. It's truly amazing.

Sorry to double post, but here's an amazing video of my instructor (the guy) doing double silks with some chick, it's INCREDIBLE.

My mom recently convinced me to quit ("Katie, you not going to be a circus performer when you grow up, so just stop now" Crying or Very sad ) but I really want to go back to my lessons.

I actually have some family members as registured volunteer clowns. I was too several years ago as a joey(like a baby kangaroo) or a Jr. Clown.

It was pretty cool, but I just don't have time with my shows.
