Cinders help!

Ok, i'm doing "on the steps" for a masterclass as part of my music theatre course and just wanted some new ideas while i'm analysing her character. i have done the show before but i played bakers wife and so was hoping for some new perspectives on cinderella.

so here's some questions for you-
1. who do you think shes singing it to?
the audience? her mother?
2. what are three adjectives you believe describe cinderella?
3. when she's singing the song...is she actually on the steps? or is she re-enacting what just happened? (don't say that "shes re-enacting, cuz in the broadway one shes moving around....it needs to be taken from the song lyrics/book)

obviously there are no right or wrong answers, i just want some different ideas. thanks!

Alright then....Bear in mind that I'm doing this based on how I view it.

1. I personally think she is trying to convince herself that what she was choosing the best thing to do and that she had made the best choice.
2. She is definatly a Daydreamer, I would also say a very sweet, and somewhat insecure, I mean c'mon she never had the guts to stand up to her family and she never really did tell her Prince that she was a servant, and her song reflects alot on her uncertainty if she made the right desicion and if she was doing the right thing.
3. She isn't on the steps, she is kind re-living the scene. The end part of her song says "she pried off her shoe to see what he would do" and when she's singing the song, she already lost the orginal shoe. Besides, it like the songs Jack and Little Red do, they already did the scene the song was based on(Jack was in the sky with the giant and Little Red was eaten by the wolf)

I agree with the above for 1 and 2. I'd just like to add for number 3 that the entire song is sung in past tense - meaning it has already happened, so she's reflecting on it. If it was in present tense, she would be singing it as it happened.

I agree with it all, Also I would add clumsy for description and for who I agree but I also think shes singing to the audience a little bit giving them advice on if a hard decision comes along, but mostly to herself
