Cinderella AuditionsI've heard some rumors about a show I'm doing this summer. I've heard it's Cinderella. Not quite sure. I find out this week what it is for sure, but in case it is Cinderella, I'd rather be prepared earlier.
Does anyoen have a lsit of all the characters and voice parts?

first of all, this may not even be my show.
I call myself a mezzo soprano. I used to be just a soprano, a high one actually, because I was trained kind of classical, like opera. But when I started getting into singing show tunes, I discovered my belt. Ever since, my voice has kind of changed and gotten lower. About three months ago I sang "I Could've Danced All Night" for this theater review workshop. It used to be so easy, but it was such a struggle for me. I'm most comfortable with belt songs. That's why I now call myself a mezzo soprano. I can also sing alto. I can't sing really low, or I get a major headache and yeah.
Anyway, I'm kind of confused.
I really want to be Cinderella. I'm literally OBSESSED with Cinderella...well I'm fifteen, but like I've always liked her. I have a collection of mini glass slippers on my desk and I dressed up as Cinderella three times for Halloween when I was younger. I own the video and all versions of the recordings. I don't watch it much anymore, so I'm kind of spacey on the characters, but I went on a website and found info. Like I said, I adore the part of Cinderella. It's a type of role I never really played - I'm always getting the character roles like Bonnie in Anything Goes, Fred in OUAM, and Sally in YAGMCB, with the exception of Annie in Annie.
If you read my other post, there's competition. Four other girls I know probably want this part too.
The Fairy Gdmother also seems like a fun part, but again, I'm so used to playing parts like this - not that I don't like it.
I'd also be thrilled to play Portia or Joy, even the stepmother.
I'm veryyyyyyy unsure. If anyone can help me decide I'd be very grateful.

It's been such a long time seen I've seen the R&H masterpiece that Disney had the nerve to screw up (I'm still a bit angry over my school's choice to do Disney Cinderella, sorry).
Anyways, I'm pretty sure that Cinderella is a soprano... and if memory serves me correctly, Portia and Joy are mezzo sopranos and the Stepmother is an alto. I think that's the case. Yeah... I might be wrong ^^;;

thanks. I think I'm going to go for Portia. From what I hear, she's the funner role. I know that deep inside I want to play Cinderella, but as I said in another post, there's a lot of talent.
Song suggestions????

i did the R and H musical of cinderella last year in eighth grade. i was the fairy godmother. Cinderella has to be a soprano, but portia can be an alto. I think that you should try going for Cinderella. Joy doesn't talk that much, the stepmother doesn't sing much... etc. good luck!

Cinderella is a soprano, but not really a legit one. However, she is NOT belty. If you struggled with all of ICHDAN, don't go for it. If you could hit all the notes except the final G's, you might be able to go for Cinderella, but you'd need to work your butt off to get your range back to it's former glory. However, if you really feel that you need to stick with your belt, then go for Portia. Whichever you choose, good luck!
