Chorus Parts?Hey!
One of our local Societies is putting on MFL next year. What kind of chorus parts are there for females? I can sing and dance but am definitely not leading lady material! The other female characters other than Eliza seem to be more acting roles which is not my forte. I'd be interested in knowing what femal chorus parts there are and what the chorus actually does.
Thanks in advance,
Steph

Hello!
To be honest there aren't any other female parts apart from Eliza, Mrs Pearce (the housekeeper) and Mrs Higgins (Henry's mother) who are both older ladies and their parts are all acting (Mrs Pearce sings a little)
The chorus is fun though! Although as far as ensemble goes there isn't as much as some other shows.
I was a dancer in this show and it was really fun, "i'm getting married in the morning" and "wouldn't it be loverley" are two really fun song and dance numbers, the ladies get to wear incredible black and white outfits for the "asco gavotte" - my hat was so cool!!
You might also get to be one of the servants in the house scenes, they sing "poor professor higgins" and I think they are in "you did it", and have walk on scenes and stuff, depending on your director.
It's a fun show, give it a go!

Female Chorus Roles:
-Mrs. Hopkins
-Lady Boxington (non-speaking)
-Flower Girl
-Two Maids (singing, non-speaking, altos)
-Mrs. Eynsford-Hill
-Two soprano and Two alto servants
-Angry Woman
-Queen of Transylvania
-Mrs. Higgin's Maid
There are a few other non-speaking roles mentioned in passing, as well as an ensemble, which sings and dances. My school has three ensembles: upper-class, servants, and and cockneys, but if your company doesn't have as many members, you may just have one ensemble and lot's of doubling. MFL requires a very large ensemble, so don't stress if you want a smaller role.

You could be one of the buskers, if your production includes that bit, and you dance.

I was Mrs Eynsford Hill a while back and I spent the whole run wishing I was part of the main chorus - female roles aren't much fun past Eliza in MFL. Try and get into the big chorus numbers - either the WIBL/IGMiTM cockney songs or the Ballroom scene and Ascot - if you can do all of them, do!!

Mrs. Higgins is almost as fun as Eliza. she gets some of the shows best lines next to Higgins.

There chorus is very fun..I was in the ensemble last year you can get really fun outfits and get to play a spectrum of roles (from guests at the ball to ascot to poor flower girls and perhaphs servants)...everything that has been said in previous posts is correct..I am just saying that ensemble & small female roles are very fun to play in this show.
