I suggest you look up Kander and Ebb who wrote Chicago and then have a listen to all of their songs from various shows on Itunes or Amazon - and see what you like. Can you dance well? It's usually required for Chicago.

Maybe "Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret, if you're a girl? (You didn't say which gender you are in your post.)

I was thinking of dont tell mama actually! I'm not the best dancer but if i do the routine over and over I can get it pretty good
oh and yes im a girl |

I'd stay away from any of Sally's songs in Cabaret...Most of them require a lot of dancing, and if it's only a vocal audition (you didn't clarify) you'd end up looking ridiculous. I suppose "Perfectly Marvelous" could work though.

well its a vocal audition but slightly choreographed

What do you mean "slightly choreographed"? Did they ask you to prepare a song that you can do a pre-arranged dance to?

haha sorry im new to this well they dont want u to just stand there not a dance just have movement with the song and make it upbeat

Well if you're going to do something from Cabaret, go with "Perfectly Marvelous" then; It very easily shows personality and can include movement but not dancing...Know what I mean? "Don't Tell Mama" would require a whole routine.

what do you think of anything from bye bye birdy or something kinda belty

Bye Bye Birdie, you say? Perhaps "What Did I Ever See in Him?", if it's in your range and not too overdone? |

I would look at something Eb and Kander that is a little less popular than Cabaret...it'll be the first thing that most people think of.
Or why not try Anything Goes? That's a great uptempo that is a similar style... Which part are you auditioning for? |

I agree with Snow_white. Cabaret may work, yes, but it will prob. be the first thing thought of to do. Take a look at some of these!

Ring them Bells. Its not actually from a particular show of Kander and Ebb's, but LIza Minelli's sung it on recordings and it was in their review "And the World Goes Round". It shows a huge range and a big personality. Definately a good option if you can sing it and can find the sheet music for it. |
