Chess blogI've decided that I'm going to be writing a blog, in which I periodically delve into the history and issues around Chess, ranging from how the plot was modified to how characters changed across productions, as well as the problems and achievements of individual rewrites of the show. I'd welcome comments here or on the blog, as well as guest-authored posts if anyone wants to write about this show. The first question I deal with is how the show changed in Sydney and the US Tour to deal with the changes in the USSR and east/west relations at the time. The blog is at: http://storyofchess.blogspot.com/ - Wayne |

great! I'll use it definatly when I direct Chess, but I dare not show this to the directors of the production i'm trying out for lest they think i'm trying to tell them what to do. |

There's a post going over what I think are the main issues with the US tour version that is up now, and I've been working on one about Chicago. I'd really appreciate suggestions for things about the show that would be practical to address for potential upcoming productions. The blog's bias is toward North American amateur productions, obviously, and that's going to put things like the analysis of the London and Sydney shows toward the bottom of my priorities at this point.
Thanks for the kind words. - Wayne |

Bjorn Ulvaeus said he would like to see a Chess revival on Broadway in the wake of the Mamma Mia! success. |
