CharlotteI got the part of Charlotte in a community theatre production of this show. I'm just looking for any tips or suggestions on how to play her up. Just how slutty/ditzy is she? Also-advice on how to do a convincing cockney accent?

not ditzy...not ditzy at all, play her loud and obnoxious, but when talking to Noah-change completely into flirty. Charlotte goes from one extreme to the next, there is no inbetween for her

Charlotte is great, I played her 2 years ago in a community theatre and I was also the rose seller, she only has one scene but its a really fun scene to play - I played her really common and flirty towards, Noah and theres oppourtunity for sneering as well!
Have fun!

Charlotte is a great role.
I played her on extremes-----extremely flirty and happy right to screaming bloody murder...it was so much fun, and then getting to throw water on Mrs. Sowerberry every night? priceless

Not Ditzy at all! I played her and she is a blast. Very loud ect... but very flirtatious with Noah. She should switch from being all sweet and flirtatious to screaming at Oliver. This was one of my favorite bit roles. I think she should come off at almost the spiting image of her mother. We played there similarities up quite a bit in our show. Well good luck!

I agree with everyone above Charolette shouls be played on extremes. Congradulations
and for the cockney accent, there are tpaes you cna buy from Samuel French if you want to be really convincing, but for a community production, i would just reccomend listening to an Oliver CD or watching the movie and immitation that accent.

I would say that Charlotte is slutty or ditzy. I was just in the show a while ago and the girl who played Charlotte was extremly flirtatious with Noah

Alright, I just played Charloette in my school's play and the director told me that I got Charloette because I'm a flirt. Like everyone else said, there is no middle -- all out extreme. But, she's a blast to play.

I was just recently cast as Charlotte in my community's production of Oliver! as well! I've tried my best to do the extreme thing and I think it's fine, so far at least. Our Noah is one of my friends and we have fun teaming up against Oliver.
(I found out yesterday that our Oliver thinks being in the coffins is the coolest thing....)

Charlotte is not ditzy at all. She's trashy and trampy, but not ditzy. It's a super fun role-have fun with it. Go all out. I had people come up to me after the show and tell me i was their favorite role. work on your cockney a ton. let me know how it goes!

Bet= no dialogue, sings 2-3 lines. Tags along behind Nancy
Charlotte= Whole scene with much dialogue and a fight scene. Also, you get to throw water on mrs Sowerberry

I'm currently playing Charlotte as well!
We're doing a thing where I hold my hands like claws because I walk and talk just like Mrs. Sowerberry because we're skeletal and bony.
Flirt with Noah, but keep your demeanor. Work with your "family" and try to match their accents.
