I wanted to start one of these threads because I feel Chess is a musical about characters, so what do you all think define the different characters? Which patterns do you feel work best in Chess?

An example is the well-known pattern:

Freddie - Florence - Anatoly
Fame obsessed - victim - Chess obsessed
Chess obsessed - observer - Fame obsessed

Another pattern is the same character changes, but with Svetlana added, so we get a square of events, so every character visits the four stadiums before the end of the game.

Fame - Chess - Victim - Observer

Or

Fame - Chess - Love

Back to the triangle which excludes Svetlana.

Does anyone get my drift?
