Character Discussion: Proprietor (Assassins)

It dawned on me today that I haven't started a Character Discussion thread in a while, and this one just came to me. The only "Assassins" recording I own is the Revival, and I actually am quite content with that, seeing as the character of The Proprietor is explored much more than the Off-Broadway production. For one thing, he's in quite a few more scenes in the Revival version; plus, he's featured more prominently in "Another National Anthem". In the Revival, "Anthem" is a battle between Proprietor and Balladeer, whereas in the Off-Broadway version, the song was a battle between Balladeer and the Assassins. I see these changes as good changes, whereas "Something Just Broke" is seen by many of you (including myself) as being an unwelcome change. How do the rest of you feel about The Proprietor?

The Proprietor should not be singing "Another National Anthem." He's the one who tricks the Assassins into going for the "prize" in the first place and then doesn't give it to them. Having him sing the song cheapens its meaning. It's much more powerful when Byck sings it.
