Cedar Point!

Ok, since we were taking over the "Where do you live" thread, I started this new one.

So, some questions about Cedar Point...

Have/do you work there? What's your favorite coaster? Favorite "normal" ride?

For the record, Yes, I work there (starting June 5th), Raptor, and Matterhorn. Very Happy

YAY CEDAR POINT THREAD!!

Laughing

My favorite coaster is Disaster Transport even though it's not a big one, because it was my first.

I go about once a year. I have plans to go this summer with the fam and a friend (haven't decided who yet!) and I'm already excited Smile

I've never been up for HalloWeekends but I really want to for my birthday, as I'm not having a sweet 16 party because of my trip to NY NY Smile

Has anyone been up for the HalloWeekends? What are they like?

And how many of you actually live in Ohio? At last count there were 3 Ohioans on here.
MissMusic

I've been there... Once.
Cause my Aunt lives by Great Bear Lodge, and my grandma lives up there too.
I remember absolutely nothing though.
Sorry i can't help.

Really, you like that one? I was so disappointed when I went on it because the wait was so long and it was like a 30 second ride!

Cedar Point is great though. We go every year and I've been there about five times even though I live in Minnesota.
alexxboyle

The music department at my school went to competition in Ohio last year, so we stopped at Cedar Point. It was so much fun! I went on my first upside-down rollercoaster (don't remember the name of it; it was the big green twisty one!)...
Robinflamingo

I worked at Cedar Point summers of 1975 and 1976. I worked in the games area, and was in charge of the Employee Live Show (called "What I Did for Love, Not Money!") It was the best two summers of my life.

The second summer I worked I was a test rider on the Corkscrew, which meant I rode it 100 times in a row Smile My favorite ride is still the Raptor, followed closely by the old, rickety Blue Streak, because it has such fond memories for me. My favorite normal ride? Goodness. I have no idea anymore. I never do anything but the coasters and the Live Shows!!
SuperKabob

I LOVE Cedar Point, but absolutely hate roller coasters. Go figure. I just have fun on the small, twirly rides. (though I am able to cope with the mine ride..... its more like a nice breezy ride than a roller coaster.)

Lol, I used to be like you. But then I rode the Raptor and now I love (most) coasters... except the wooden ones... and Dragster/Millenium.

Halloweekends are awesome... Everything from arriving, to the night time scare areas... I really don't want to tell you much about them though, as it will ruin the experience for you, but I have to say, it's really cool.
Amy_Vocalist

I'd LOVE to go to Cedar Point, I wanna ride Top Thrill Dragster (we have a much smaller version in Thorpe Park over the pond)

At the same time it reminds me of a jerk I used to be friends with (he lives in ohio and we had a big fall out)
qpidsangel

I love Cedar Point!, though I haven't been there in like 3 years. Crying or Very sad My favorite ride is the Magnum! I have a great story about it if you guys would like to hear about it dealing with a piece of pizza hehe. And I live in Ohio, Columbus to be more specific so it's about 2 hrs from me. I would love to go this summer but I can't find anyone to go that will ride roller coasters with me Mad
norayouadora

Omigod, Cedar Point is the most amazing place in the whole world, no joke!! I definitely have a season pass (though I need to get it renewed for this summer) and I went there at least 20 times last summer. I LOVE Cedar Point! Haha, sorry that I'm spazzing, but I didn't think anyone else here knew it. I'm so lucky that I like ~45 minutes away from CP, hehe.

My favorite ride is either the Raptor or the Magnum. I'm so excited to ride the Maverick this summer, it looks pretty awesome. Mr. Green
qpidsangel

take me with you Nora Pray
sopranoopianoo

Ooooh oooh! I'm going there this summer! I've never been!! Ahh! I'm a roller coaster FANATIC too! Very Happy

Lol, I have the same problem--most of my friends have been there like 1000 times, so it's all old news to them. But for some reason I never get sick of roller coasters. I spent part of my life being deathly afraid of them, so I guess now I'm just making up for lost time. CP is so worth the 2 hour drive from Columbus, lol, you really should make the trip this summer! I'll show you around; I know it like the back of my hand. Laughing

Oooh, forgot to mention, I also looove the Wicked Twister. Especially if you ride in the very front of it! Muahaha.
qpidsangel

...MDN Field Trip! LOL!

Um, that would be totally freaking awesome, because we're all like-minded people (for the most part at least)...

Shoot, I belong to harry potter forums where they organize trips, we need an MDN trip!! haha...
qpidsangel

We would skip through the park singing showtunes... ROCK ON!
Pasty

I love cedar point, I try to go at least 3 times a summer.

Fav ride? Raptor, hands down. That ride is so much fun. Dragster is a close second though.
Marcellus

Has anyone here ridden the Earthquake ride that used to be at Cedar Point? I rode it circa 1962 when it was in Freedomland, in the Bronx. It was located in the "San Francisco" area of the park, of course.
Robinflamingo

I did, I did!

It's gone now...
happyguava

What's Cedar Point? It sounds like so much fun!
Marcellus

Cedar Point is near Cleveland on Lake Erie. I think Sandusky is the nearest town.

Marcellus wrote:

Correct. Technically, CP is in Sandusky... But really it's just in its own world. Wink

Seriously, if you guys are going to CP over the summer, you can let me know! I'll tell you which rides are the best and which ones suck (though the sucky rides are few and far between). There's a 90% chance that I'll be there on any given day, anyways. Haha. I love having a season pass because I never have any money, so whenever my friends and I are bored over the summer, I'm always like "Let's go to Cedar Point!" Mr. Green

And whenever people want to go, they usually take me because I have a parking pass. Parking usually costs, I think, $5? And it only costs $10 extra to add it on to a regular pass, so it really makes sense to get it if you go as often as I do. Lol.
The Drama Queen

This is so weird, I've never even thought about people from here going to Cedar Point. Our family got season passes last year and I practically lived there.
Raptor + pitch black nightime + front row = most amazing thing ever.

And for someone who commented about HalloWeekends- they're fun, mostly the same park only colder. It is kind of cool that the whole park has a universal theme, even though the decorations are immensely cheesy.

And I'm another resident Ohioan here, I live an hour away from Cleveland.

The Drama Queen wrote:

So true. Though I once rode it like that--front row, at night--with my friends, and we had to deal with tons of bugs (particularly mosquitos) smashing into our faces. I'm pretty sure I got one or more in my mouth, ugh. BUT, sadly, I still thought it was totally worth it! Very Happy

Ohioans are cool. Wink

Whoaaa I live in Columbus too! Smile
Hmm...
Pasty

glad to see more ohio people here.

reppin the 614.
broadwaybaby124

I've never been to Cedar Point, but I have been to Dorney Park which is owned by the same people many, many times.
As for my favorite coaster there, I don't like rollercoasters all that much...so I'd go with Woodstock Express...haha

OMG!!!!!!! If we do get a MDN fieldtrip to CP, GO ON A DAY I HAVE OFF!!!! I am not gonna be stuck running the Iron Dragon while you guys galivant all over the park singing showtunes! I absolutly REFUSE!!!!!!!! lol, come on, I wanna have some fun too Razz.

hehehe... they pay me to practically live at Cedar Point (we'll technically, I pay them a low fee for a room, but I get free access to all the parks and the beach Razz).

I actually live about 3 hours away, in Southeast Michigan... Representin' the 517! lol... That's so not cool if you've ever been here...

Anyway, I'm serious, if you guys go this summer, look me up... I'm pretty sure I'll be there almost everyday.
qpidsangel

so I'm off on Friday's and Saturday's
Marcellus

BTW I live about 15 miles from Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I moonlighted there in the summer and fall of 1992. This past winter they took out the LeMans midget car ride and replaced it with another roller coaster with benches that sit 10 people wide, and no floor.

Aaah, I love the Iron Dragon! Most people think it's incredibly lame, but I just have a fine appreciation for kiddie rides. My best friend and I always ride it and scream obnoxiously like we're scared to death. Bwahaha. Laughing

Jeez, why does it seem that everyone who works at CP is either foreign or from Michigan? Seriously, lol, it boggles the mind.

Oh, and for the field trip... Any day is fine for me! Hehe. Very Happy
Eponine93

I love Cedar Point. I live on the East coast, but we drove the entire seven hours out there mainly for the themepark. Talk about crazy... the ironic thing was that I live in the state with the first-highest and fastest rollercoaster (I haven't on it yet). I loved Millenium Force, but it wasn't as good as Dragster.

I've been to Dorney twice and am going there in *gasp* less than a month for our band competition. We got the music for one of our peices that we're playing yesterday.

Lol! I scream on Iron Dragon too... but mainly to freak out the kids on the ride... Razz

I know what you mean about the Michigan/Foreign thing lol. It's too true. I live in really small town and apparently a ton of people are either working there this summer or worked there in the past.... Maybe it's because we're sooo close and yet so far a way, we just want to be there every day.

Honestly, I didn't even get to go last year lol... Last time I was there was Halloweekends 2005.

The CP people recruit very actively in Michigan at the colleges. I know when I worked there, Western Michigan got out late April, so we were available for opening, which was a big plus.

Yeah, that's true... after I told them what college I was going to attend in the fall, the lady doing my interview asked me if I'd consider working there next summer too (becuase my college gets out early May)... Yalk about recruiting early...

ILoveToSing2010

i have never been there, but i wanna go like really bad!
Marcellus

I wish I had gone in the 1990's when they still had a few of the rides from Freedomland recycled. I have seen videos of a couple of the roller coaster rides, however.
