Oy, the costumes. And the guy playing Tugger looked like he could care less about his role. |

Oy vey I agree about the costumes..not sure what they were thinking. I do think some high schools need to take a look at whether or not they can pull it off artistically before they try a show like Cats. The set looked alright but...I don't know the performers didn't really look like they were too into it, which is really a bit of a tragedy when it comes to this show. And Cassandra I couldn't agree with you more about Tugger. He almost looks asleep on his feet and looks like he was bribed to be in the show. Denise |

I def. agree!!! I dont want to seem to brag... but the highschool that Im doing CATS in (its this summer's musical) has a very good director. They've done Les Miserables and Chicago before and (chicago was as good as the movie!) I think that we can pull it off with a bang! I just hope that those '10 boys' in the video are at LEAST good dancers...
-mistoteazer... hurrah for trying....

I thought the makeup etc for the guy playing Bustopher was pretty good. What little I could hear of their Griz singing Memory also sounded pretty good. I could see some flashes or brilliance here and there but I think that piece shows just how difficult it is to do CATS. The Tugger...well...I hope he has no thoughts of a career on the stage. He's big and masculine looking so I guess that's all they want from their Tugger. I just have a feeling his performance would be painful to watch. Some of the costumes look good while others look very...improvised. And the makeup needs work too. When their queens hit the "C"...ugh! One can definitely say CATS is a show best done by performers with training in dance and song. I think it would be easier and more effective to train song and dance people to act in CATS than the other way around. Maybe CATS is best left to the schools that specialize in the performing arts. If there is going to be a "wave" of CATS performances, maybe they need a CATS Performer's website. Guy-Paul, I think you could have a seemingly endless number of clients in need of your coaching in the US. |

That one girl in the banner advertising the show looked like a cat costume I made about six years ago before I even knew what Cats was. In other words, cute but not the best representation of the musical. When I heard the kids sing something was way off with their voices. I understand that different performances sound different, but the different casts I have heard sounded in sync with each other. The kids were in sync but they were either off key or somehow their voices didn't match up too well. Does that make sense?
There was one girl in the clip that looked like she had a decent unitard, yellow and red. It was only a glimpse though. Bustopher Jones looked great! His wig looks authentic to me, but it could just be store bought wig spray-painted. Tugger...very obstuse towards his fans. Did not get into the role. |

That one clip they showed (I think it was a different high school production) had Griz and Victoria looking dead-on.
Hey, if Guy-Paul comes to the States to teach dance, I might have to lie about my age if necessary and sign up. |
