CATS in Wonderland pics

So I was asked to do the makeup for "Alice In Wonderland" for my sister's highschool, and I thought it'd be cool to use CATS makeup as an inspiration for the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit. The rabbit's costume is based on Victoria, obviously, since she's a girl. I'll post that later. For now, though, I need your advice on the Cheshire Cat's coloring...he's loosely based on Tugger and Munkustrap, if you can tell, but I'm not sure what colors I'll use. The wig we got is neon blue with neon pink inside the ears. I tried to draw that in on my main pic here. It was all hand drawn, then I Photoshopped the colors. I tried some different color combos for the face...what do you guys think will work the best? The costume is mainly just black, since it's only his head, paws, and tail that will be seen most of the time. We're also discussing possibly using a blacklight. Any suggestions or favorite choices? I'd appreciate some input. Mr. Green

White Rabbit

So here's the preliminary costume sketch for the White Rabbit. She's a very dainty female that's trained in gymnastics, so we're going the Victoria route with her character.

I definately prefer the first chesire cat. It's much more elaborate than when I did Alice in Wonderland a few years ago (yay glow-in-the-dark fabric paint). The onthers are just too... dark, I think. Perhaps, though, put blue and pink stripes? Hmm.

Just my opinion: The colours seem a little off for the cheshire cat and the design itself it far too... well... common. Taking the Cats makeup idea was a good one... but I dont think the finished product will look as good as you intend it with those same designs. Right now it looks very much like a group of blobs and slashes.

Then again, I am a perfectionist meanie when it comes to makeup.

I'd personally go with either the Basic or Blue makeup designs. My only suggestion would be to perhaps not have the fangs. It just reminds me more of a Macavity-type vicious cat versus a Cheshire cat.

For anyone who wants to see the other characters...

OK, for anyone who wants to see my other characters...

I need your advice again as I refine my makeup charts this week for Alice in Wonderland. I did these all in Photoshop over the real actor's faces (yes, some of them are doubling characters), so it gives a pretty good idea of what it will look like, though mine will be a bit more precise. Keep in mind that there's still wigs and costumes (I had so much fun making neon blue and pink cat tail..thank you cheezrules.com), these are only the faces. I'm still playing around with some, so please give me some input, good or bad! I didn't post the easy ones like Alice and Mad Hatter, since they're kinda doing their own makeup, but I'll post some pics of everyone in their finished costumes and makeup on my website later. Take a look!

Cheshire Cat...this is his blacklight look..the wig is painted on, but that's almost exactly what it looks like anyway.

Fish..will also have blue and green hair extensions, glitter, and silver gills under her jaw

Frog

Griffon..I really wanted a prosthetic nose for this guy, but it's not in the budget...I think he looks too much like a Mexican wrestler...how in the heck do you make a painted-on beak look good? Any ideas?

March Hare..basic colors..she'll have a prosthetic rabbit nose with buckteeth.

Mock Turtle...again, I need advice on this one. I have no idea how to make this poor girl look like a somewhat attractive turtle. It just looks zombie-like without a beak, but I don't know how to do a turtle beak well.(It was originally going to be a male, but was recast. I used the actress playing the rabbit's pic as a ref instead) I think it'll look better with the green bald cap, though.

Queen of Hearts...I'm not sure if this is the way we're gonna go..I want her to still be pretty, not drag-queeny, but maybe that's just the Photoshop doing that. Maybe more blended colors and less heavy eyebrows? The wig she has on is sparkly red, but you can't tell in this picture.

White Rabbit...this girl is gonna be so cute as the rabbit!

That's all, folks. Whaddaya think?

For the Queen of Hearts I would go all out and have her look drag queenish. Or like a Dame from a British pantomime. She's blustery, and a caracature. Go for it.

I love the White Rabbit makeup, very interesting having the Character female... im now wondering what the cartoon film would have been like with a female rabbit Smile
