Cats in Oslo/Norway 2009

They have recieved great critics in all newspapers I've read, mostly five out of six stars!

There are 9 male actors and 16 actresses listed, I will post cast list with information on which roles they play when I get it. Though some info about this can be found further down in my post.So far only the real names are listed here.

For anyone interested there are four pictures (copyrighted, so not allowed to use elsewhere without permission) on their website. Please keep in mind that the pictures here are taken during rehearsals. So not all the cats are present in the last picture, but the producers have said Munkustrap is in the finale number. They have changed Electra's costume to yellow since they took the pictures. Smaller alterations on a few of the other costumes have also been made.

The four pictures released so far can be found here: Cats in Oslo.

This site don't take all html codes, so I don't know how to insert small images of the pic's here, the originals are quite big, sorry!

Grizabella and Demeter. Easy to spot who is who in this.

Tugger and the 4 kittens. From left to right: Exotica, Victoria, Tugger, Electra and Etcetera.

Scene from Growltiger. The cat to the left I'm not sure of, Tugger is second from left, then it's Munkustrap and the cat to the right is Alonzo (Alonzo also doubles as Bustopher). The cat with the pirate hat in the ladder is Growltiger, as Gus is played by an older Norwegian actor who can't be climbing like that (not my words). Though I'm only 100 % sure of Tugger, Munkustrap and Alonzo in this picture! Growltiger is the word from a mate of mine who have seen it.

Macavity fight. This is not on the webpage, but replacing only the number in the url's I got this.

Other smaller pictures is here:

Finale. From left to right:
Mungojerrie
Rumpleteazer (Charlotte Øverland Våset
Jellylorum(/Griddlebone)
Alonzo(/Bustopher Jones)
Skimbleshanks/Tumblebrutus (Sivert Hauge)
Tantomile
Demeter (Solveig Andsnes)
Bombalurina (who don't double as Griddlebone despite the costume looks like she does)
Jemima (Gulla Nordmoen)
Old Deuteronomy (Per Vollestad)
Jennyanydots (Øyunn Bjørge)
Rum Tum Tugger (Petter Aagaard)
Electra (Thea Bay)
Victoria, though they refer to her as White Kitten. (Fransesca Sveinall)
Exotica (Michelle Purvis)
Mr. Mistoffelees
Etcetera (Anett Amundsen)

Not in the picture:
Gus the Theatre Cat (Toralv Maurstad)
Grizabella (Liv Eirin Francis)
Macavity/Bill Bailey (Geir Gundersen)

There are mostly new and unknown among the cast members, Gus and Old Deut are a few exeptions. That is they have avoided star casting/casting of C, D and E celebrities for once!

Differences I know of so far:

As you can see from one of the pictures, there is no junkyard. (My mate said it was in an attic, but to me it looks more like an abandoned old theatre.)

Exotica is replacing Jemima in Oslo, in the traditional set up from London for the Tugger and kittens scene at the end of his number.

And hey, we have a large tribe in Oslo, despite a small theatre, all of the three extra E-cats (Electra, Etecetera and Exotica) are included here!

Jemima and not Sillabub are used as the name of the kitten who sings part of Memory. (Not a difference to all other productions though)

Bustopher Jones, Gus The Theatre Cat and Growltiger are played by three different actors.

Other differences to other productions will be posted as soon as I get to see it myself. Thought I should share the info I have so far on this production.[/url]

This is really great information, thanks for posting it. I always enjoy reading about these unusual international productions... seeing the unique costumes and set takes me back to when I was just learning about the show itself. I'd love to go to one of these productions someday.
operafantomet

Should be mentioned that the tiny theatre they perform in is called "Chat Noir" - the black cat. Very cute!

It would be interesting to bring together some off the international productions and the broadway/west end/us tour productions to see whats differ and whats common. Maybe a marathon show of cats? Shocked
