Cats in Moscow!hey just wonder what did you heard about our cats
i like it so much and almast all actors are my friend so may be you'll interest of something in our production (sorry for my bad english) most of all i like munkestrap and i think that our munk is so handsome!!! murrrrrrr i saw many photos of mankus's and i like only David Ahley, and Gruber from dvd and of course our!!! he's one of who i know the best in cat's and also i know our tugger theese two are my good friends! |

i read on this forum that our cats have madrid's costums but it's wrong!
for every actors was made it's oun costume at first they have white ballet tights, than it was adapt for everyone, and was made lines repeated actors body then it was send in London where costumes was colored only what we have from Madrid is decoration mmm i think i should learn english better  ))) sorry
i hope you'll understand what i wanted to say and also if ya want i can show you many photos ))
for example - Pasha Kotov, he is my friend thats why i have this photos (i made it before the beginning of the musical  we came there early esecially)

but actually i saw her only ones - on last week, she played 3 times yet i don't like it, you know we have Lena Charkviany befor her and she was amazing!! as for Nadja.. i don't like her make-up! it's not like it was i mean all our cats have london make-up, and she is not. and i don't like her voice! and she sing with great broad!

Often native speakers don't like the translations of the show because the puns and poetry tricks from the original English version don't translate over. |

it's funny but translation is so great! my friend live in NY and when he heard our version he says that it's great i mean it sounds with music very very good just like english version because our languages are alike in sounding

but costums are different from ours for exaple - mankus! some time ago on MTV was programm about dances and there was our cats - but very pity that almost all was cut there was 2 songs - mango & rumple and tugger so the video in program was very short all good pieses was cuted
you can download it here also i have video - whith our singer (  ) almost nobody like her, so she sang "memory" and our cats was there(when i tald whis them they said that wanted to be killed because her singing was terrible)i think so too, but still you can see them )
and her pronunciation was soooooooo bad!! even i can talk better here 2 program about dancing - Tugger and mango and rumpl and terrible memory sorry but audio and video streams not very concur |

Well, the costumes look like copies of the London production except for slight differences. I generally prefer it when productions take a slightly more original spin on the designs, but the Russian production is still very lovely, and the costumes are quite stunning and vibrant . The brighter colours in the costumes and makeup are really lovely. I like some of the makeup designs more than others, but overall I think they are fantastic. I like the way they've incorporated some variations, especially Cassandra and Bombalurina. Demeter's makeup is nice too, but a bit too kittenish for my tastes. I quite like Skimbleshanks makeup, it's quite detailed and realistic looking.

as for me i don't like skimble's make up very much cause he looks a little angry in it
i like dvd make-up of scimble as for costumes i like that we have a copy of london. and don't like when in other countrys make up is si diferent from original that i even cant understand who is where!and they even don't look like cats as for Nadejda - i saw her only once - and she played only 3 or 2 times grizbella. Tommorow i'm going to see cats again and may be she will be there/ now i even don't know it because changes in afisha is so often! some of actors are ill now (you know it's quite cold here  ) and Vanya tald me that she is ill too
and the day after tommorow i'm going to see Romeo and Juliette (not shure in spelling) i actually didn't see it yet because all my free time was spending on cats

codek? what is that?... they open up as nero media player but no image is seen. I have Quicktime Player and also Windows Media Player, but I don't know what can I do so that they can be open in those other programmes because it seems that nero media is the one who is predetermined.
So... as a resume.... aaaargh I don't know my own computer... it's so frustrating...hahaha If any of you wanna help little Spanish_Rumple (ex Psyche Cat), I've got Windows XP.

Yes, I agree that act two starts to slow down a bit. It's not really consisitant like act one, but it's still good! Who did you see as Juliette? Evgeniya Ryabzeva is my favorite Russian Juliette. Sasha Babenko must be new to the cast! Unless he was an understudy for both Pavel Belkov and Aleksandar Babenko. Anyway, thanks for sharing! ^_^ Veel Liefs, Jemima

I bit ironic because Mamma Mia! replaced CATS at Winter Garden on Broadway.
Same sort of thing happened to CATS on Broadway. But it's still too bad. I'd have liked to have seen it have a longer run. Mamma Mia! should go over well with the Russian audience because I think ABBA was popular even in Russia. It's a fun show with really good music but if you think CATS' plot is thin, wait until you see Mamma Mia! It's a fun show to see but it pretty much runs out of gas with time. Its appeal is the ABBA hit songs so it is the nearest thing to an ABBA concert . Mamma Mia! doesn't have a whole lot to talk about because it's pretty much a WYSIWYG kind of show. CATS ,primarily being character driven, lends itself to a life off the stage in the fans' minds.

I think she meant "translation". "Traduction" is the French word. Understandable mistake since French and English share a lot of words or the words are very close. |

I have a question about the Moscow production : is there a lot of interaction with the audience ? Do the cats run in the aisle, Tugger dancing with someone during his song, ... ? I'd be curious to know as when I saw the German Tour there was nearly no interaction - and it is also a Stage Entertainment production.

That is happening in Germany, too. Plus other times like during Mistoffelees and so on. Jemima57, the last times I saw it in Hannover, there was much more interaction than in Düsseldorf, espescially during Mr Mistoffelees and the final bows. |

yep, it was so great ! ) but actually we celebrate it 2 times 11 - as a first commercial perfomanse
and 18 as a premiere and day when ALW was there
we make very big 1 with many pictures, and other stuff and present it to actors at the end, at the same time 200 big baloons was coming from the end of hall to the stage after actoors sais that it was wonderful

i thought i will too but i was not in the hall at the end - i saw all behind the scenes but it was sooo great! me and my freind was the last people who up on tyre! and it's so sad but now decoration goes to Holland. than back to Madrid (yay to spanish people!! i'm glad for you!) and then how th said Bogachov (he is a producer ) maybe maybe// it'll came back to Moscow ww should to wait 2 years

i know that cats was in Madrid - after that decoration was arrive here in Moscow so it end in Madrid in 2004? then it was 2005-2006 here, then 2006-2007 (i think only a year) in Holland, than 2007-2008 Madrid (may be it's just somewhere else in Spain but Bogachov sais Madrid ) and then .. may be in Moscow it's not exactly but i hope so )))

well I don't know about the decoration, but two of the performers that were in Madrid, Jack Rebaldi and Pepe Muñoz are now acting in Cats in Germany as far as I know... I didn't know that our decoration went directly to Moscow in fact I thought that it went to Germany aswell... but no.
So in 2007 the decoration will come back here... well unless they make Cats somewhere else in Spain... I don't think that they are going to repeat it in Madrid, after all I don't think they had too much success when Cats was in Madrid because there were other productions in the theatres nearby like Singing in the rain and others. Anyway, I'll ask Hugo, maybe he knows something about that. |
