Cats in Issaquah, WA Trip ReportHi guys! I saw a regional production of Cats in Issaquah and I had the best time!
So this is a pretty detailed trip report. Please do read and enjoy!
Okay, first I'll start with a list of who came with me and the characters we dressed as  Note: The names are our Cats community nicknames.
Jelliclaw (Me)....Demeter
Evalyn....Evalyn (made up charrie, cousin of Bombalurina)
Cinnamon....Rumpelteazer (makeup and tail + Cats t-shirt)
Gigi....Jumpedra (madeup character, daughter of Bombalurina)
Ok. So I got up early and sat around. At 10:30 I got my costume and makeup done. Cinnamon arrived at 11:00. I finished my makeup and did hers. When I finished, Gigi came in her Jumpedra costume and makeup. We talked then went upstairs to dance to Cats. Soon Evalyn arrived in her Evalyn costume and makeup, and we headed to Issaquah.
We got there and our costumes attracted quite some attention. We walked around, got a programme, and then walked around some more. A lady asked me, "Can we get a picture of you guys? The cast wants a picture of you." Of course, I said yes! After the picture, the lady told us the cast wanted a picture with us and we could meet them at the end of the show. She asked where we were sitting and we told her. She said they'd make sure we'd have a visitor during the show. We were sooo excited!
The set was awesome! Evalyn was very excited. So the show started. Cats eyes were everywhere!
Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats was awesome! The cast has awesome voices, the dancing was great. We were sooo excited!
The Naming of Cats was cool. Some of the cats got offstage and went into the audience. Tumble and Alonzo climbed up these ladders to the balcony! Tumble, who's costume I loved, came right up to Gigi and I, chanting the Naming and looking at all four of us. He nuzzled Gigi! Then he pointed. We turned to the right and there was Alonzo! Then Tumble nuzzled my lap. 'Twas awesome. Plus Alonzo petted Evalyn.
The Solo Dance/Invitation was really good, but not as stunning as the video.
The Gumbie Cat's song was ever so cool! I liked Jenny. The Gumbie Trio was real nice. During the tap dance, Jenny looked at the 'beetles' and then at someone in the audience and said, "Aren't they just adorable?"
Rum Tum Tugger was cool. He came down a ladder and looked at the girls then said, "Sorry I'm late." They squealed! So cute.
Grizabella the Glamour Cat was great. I love Demeter's voice!
Bustopher Jones was...interesting. Good song, but wierd Bustopher. Yup.
Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer was really, really, good! I loved it!
Old D.'s song was excellent. Old Duet has a great voice, I tell you. But his costume mainly consisted of what looked like a sheet.
The Jellicle Ball was really great. Outstanding! But not many major flips or anything like that.
Memory. Such a great Griz. -can't think of anything else to say-
So then we had intermission for 15 min. Didn't do much other than check on our makeup.
Moments of Happiness was very nice. I love that song, surprisingly. This Old D. reminds me of Ken Page.
Gus was very nice. I remember reading that Jellylorum sings the whole song in this production, but Gus sang as well.
FWEE! I loved Growltiger! It was nice and funny and got some nice clapping and laughs from the audience. The Griddlebone costume was...odd. Also, they had this screen thing where you could see a shadow of Tumble swordfighting with someone else, and in the end a shadow of Growltiger being forced to walk the plank. Awesomeness!
Skimbleshanks was one of my favorites! The train was a giant shopping cart with a wierd...tub type thing on the front, large wheels, small wheels resembling red tops for cooking pots like in the video, plus an umbrella and a small light. Skimble climbed into the shopping cart, clapped, and the Cats moved the train around. Fwee. Skimble got a ride 
Macavity was really, really good and perfect. Demeter and Bombalurina have great voices. The dancing was so impressive and very amazingl nice. Hehe. I liked this. The fight was good as well.
Mr. Mistoffelees was great. Misto came out holding a sheet over him like Macavity had done, so Demi and Bombi shouted, "Macavity!" but Misto took the sheet off and there began the song. It was nice. Overall I loved this song too The magic trick stumped me.
Memory was fantastic. Griz and Jemima are very gifted singers.
Journey to the Heaviside Layer was cool! They took away the lounge chair that was in front of a large blue dumpster that Old D. sits on. Then the dumpster moved more into the center. Its lid lifted into the air. In a puff of smoke, Griz had gone to the Heaviside.
I like the Ad-dressing, and this one was great.
We clapped our hands off, then got up and headed to the staff only door to meet the cast. They came out very soon. Rumpel was nice, Alonzo was funny, Old. D was nice as well. I told Demeter that I was Demeter ( ) and someone...like Etcetera maybe...said I looked like Bombalurina. That was good. We got pics with them. There was a big crowd taking pictures of us with the cast. When we met the cast, Tumblebrutus told Evalyn that when he was in 4th grade, his mom made him a Tugger costume for Halloween We had a great time.
If you get a chance to see this regional, see it! It's fantastic!
