CATS Gothenburgh - Bombalurina and Tugger - IMAGE HEAVY!

Ok, so they do NOT look like the original design - but that is the point of it. They're suppose to be radically different and they sure are. But the more I look at Bomby, the more I like her. If you have complaints, voice them at the designer who flirted with Japaneese Manga and Animé... Go figure with those dreadlocks. It'll be really interesting to see what it looks like then when they dance. I bet there's gonan be a hefty number of slaps and eyepokes with the dreads and those pretty ears! I'll share more if and when I get hold of... stuff that I am allowed to share in public...

KISS?! Yep, I DO belive so. True glamrocking pussycat! ;-D

And then the stage. Ok, let me explain... The stage is inspired by the local HUGE Amusement park called Liseberg - one of Scandinavias finest parks.
Matthew

wow.
Mungostoffelees

Tugger looks kinda cool and the set is very clever, works well. Can't say I like bomby though. Not because she is different (as I rather liked Munk), but find this design far far far too un cat-like!
Smudge

Tugger has a star over his eye... Are you serious???
milamber_alw

Whoa!! Shocked
Thanks for he images! It seems that Polish Koty have serious competitor in being weird Laughing
I am looking forward to see more pictures as I plan to watch them after the Christmas Cool

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Sorry, I already lived through the 70's once. I have absolutely no desire to do so again. Stick to Classic Cats, please, not this abomination. Confused
enkeli-kitten

Awesome cats!!!!!!! That would be cool to see!! Cool
Moongewl

Eh, there are things I like and things I don't like. Bomba's muzzle is very cute, but the drawn-on-giant-eyelashes, I guess you would call them, just don't work for me. I like the blue in Tugger's hair, not so keen on the star. But overall, I'm just not getting a "cat" sense. If I didn't already know, I wouldn't know what sort of animal they're supposed to be. Maybe when we can see the full costume my opinion will change, but right now I'm not really liking them.
The set is giving me a Tim Burton vibe, which is mostly a good thing.
Nemi

I personally enjoy Bombalurina's makeup quite a deal... but it doesn't 'pop' out like it'd imagine a Bomba's should.

Tugger's star and the Bomba's wig? Eh, I could live without. Still, it's an interesting, different look, indeed.
Gwen

I think Bombalurina's muzzle doesn't look too bad...
Um...the star...well, er- different story. The wig I don't think looks too horrible on Tugger....

Shocked The star- It's just- not cat like!

....The set gave me a Dr. Seuss vibe for some strange reason. Laughing

Definitely!

I don't know if it's just around where I live, but I don't see many junkyards with giant mouths in them... Confused

I really don't like those costumes. They're not..... CATS-like. In my opinion, it's a disgrace.

Ahdeya did say that the set was inspired by an amusement park in Scandinavia...I'd assume that the set itself is supposed to be an amusement park as well.
Luc

Oh... I guess I missed that part... Embarassed Embarassed
Jemima57

The set in interesting... however, I can't say I like the costumes... I prefer when they are more cat-like. Not a manga fan.
JellicleCatMew

Tugger's makeup is okay, but Bomba's is just plain awful!it looks like the make-up artist got bored with doing make-up and slapped a random wig on Bomba, then slapped some paint over Bomba's eye.Bomba comes out looking like some random lady with half-done Jellicle make-up on.
Pawzxx

I really like the set tho...I could totally imagine cats jumping around on old fair ground...nice change.. Laughing
Pawzxx

Instead of the oven.....it could be like a carridge on the rollercoaster...I like that...
Swan

Eurgh. Shocked
I could'nt care less about being different by the original design... what I really don't like is they look like "people dressed like cats" too much. Cats characters are supposed to look like real cats as much as possible... which doesn't include a star on an eye (at least, not designed that way - just think of Copenaghen Alonzo!) or a wig that comes straight from the Seventies.
I hope at least they don't meow...

Swan - Italian Jellicle
(in a bad mood today, can you tell? Wink )
Lady Jemima

Like everyone else...wow. Shocked Not my style, but hey, to each their own. Neat set, though I certainly prefer the junkyard. Wink
demeter_cat2010

its so uncat-like..but still pretty cool..i like the idea of having an amusement park as a set....but junkyard DEFINITELY rules!!'

if there are anymore pics from this cast that anyone has..please post them..i'd love to see!

Wellllll.....

Got more pictures to scan later. Can't even BEGIN to say how utterly disappointed I am with Grizabella and her.. "design". She looks like a mauled hoem coming queen - honestly I do NOT agree with it at all. No way. Mungo and Rumple... well.. hmm.. Munkustrap? He's a grandma's patchwork blanket kittycat but VERY charismatic. I'm off to see it next week i think, giving the cast a week or so to get hot inthe fur! Stay tuned for more pictures.

Misto fans: Misto IS black n white, he's true to the colours atleast!
VictoriaTWC

Ahdeya: Be sure to pick up a brochure and could you scan the pro pictures for us? Just curious to see more details of the cast's costumes.

So far, its very very different, but I hope the music SOUNDS the same:

Fluff...

Nice pictures, eh? I'll be sure to yoink up a few broshures and see if I can them re-distributed to you lot over there. Don't know what Merchandise there is, but I'll be sure to let you all know.
VictoriaTWC

Thanks! Let us know if there are any special T-shirts with logos and stuff too! Brochures would be nice too and programs. Overall, I think I like the strange anime type designs. Although I wish they would keep the wigs more classic.

Purrs,

Mixu

I was having hard time deciding whether to travel to Sweden for Cats or not. After those pictures of Bomba, and especially Tugger, I don't have the problem anymore. Star on an eye? I'm disappointed Sad
Belle

I couldn't get those links to open for me, but I did find my way to the photos eventually... in case anyone else was also struggling, I've got them here!

I'm seeing a lot of Cirque du Soleil in these costumes, and in the suggested choreography caught in the photos. Definitely different! Not trying to be feline, but also not human. Just- creatures. There's not much in the designs unifying them as a set, some are skintight, some are not - some appear painted, others blocks of colour sewn, different materials... Is the green thing leaping at Grizabella in long skirts? I'm LOVING the pirates, and there's some excellent photography in there!

VictoriaTWC

I got all the pics too. Just couldn't link 'em.

Purrs,
VTWC
Misto

I'm loving this production! And I actually like the Griz. The set is amazing as well!
Jemima57

omg... really not my style. A production I would not love to watch, just because of costumes.
Matthew

i actually like it...
i believe it's like an acquired taste. their VERY interesting but VERy fun,
bombalur1na

I'm not sure if the one hanging upside down is Misto...but if it is he looks so neat!! I also love how cute they made Demeter, and how much of a diva Bomba looks. The Griz is a bit odd, but I really like her design.

The set reminds me of a mix between AAHH! Real Monsters and Dr. Seuss.. but such an interesting idea. I'd love to see this show. =)
darkmage

ACK!! NO!!!

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

These designs do NOT work for me. Stick to classic Cats, please. After all, it's what made it a hit, not this travesty.
electramcm

The costumes kind of creep me out... Shocked

But the set and some of the costumes sorta give me a CATS/ Seussical the Musical vibe, eh?

The other costumes just look like Cirque.

Definetly a weird production, but that's just my opinion.
Nemi

I'm a fan of that big pink bow.
