If you are truly interested contact me and we can talk.

Anyone else get a bad vibe? Even if you're actually an honest seller, you're going about this in a way that sounds shady.

this link would have been more helpful... direct to the photos. Cute rumpelteaser. shame it's just the unitards and 3 speciality costumes, not the whole set...

Moongewl, I'm not so sure about a bad vibe? But this might not be the best way to try to sell on these costumes.

Agree

I agree with Belle that if one is going to sell a costume - regardless of the show - one really needs to either show it in the thread with a picture or link to the pictures on a site. I know the poster indicated where pictures of the costumes were, but they need to be isolated -- a way to say: 'THESE costumes are what I am selling and here is a link to show what they look like on a performer...'

Oh for pete's sake. I rented a package for our production of Cats. It did not include leotards or the Growltiger scene. Their Grizzabella did not work for our purposes. Now that the show has closed, I have these items left. They are very nice and in good condition. I don't have a lot of time to spend on this project and would prefer to just go into detail with anyone who is truly interested. For instance, I had a private message from an interested party and was able to send her a picture and brief description. And our website should speak to our credibility.

I have to say that I am offended by this rush to judgement. I thought this would be the perfect place to offer them for sale and do not understand the cruel and overly critical comments.

*cough* Cruel and overly critical? For saying that you should have given a direct link to the items in question...?
Anyone who has ever sold anything online knows that's the first thing you do - you show your potential buyers a picture so they can be impressed with you. It doesn't sound right if you say "there's a picture you can see if you go here and look for this" - that's all anyone was saying.

For all this forum can be cruel and overly critical, this was not one of those times.

1. You signed up for this forum with a generic name and were offering to sell things in your first post.
2. You provided links to easily-found publicity photos that don't even show the aforementioned Growltiger and Griddlebone pieces.
3. You didn't mention what you did in the show(e.g. costume designer) or how you got ahold of the costumes.
4. From the sound of it, you're selling the costume pieces privately.
5. You didn't give an email address or other form of contact in your post--limiting our knowledge of you to a generic username with zero other posts and no actual name.

As to "our website" being credibility, you didn't actually offer any proof that you were even affiliated with the production, not even a mention of being part of it. You did say "our production," but that could've meant "our community's production."
The lack of information, the inability to provide any photos other than some anyone could've dug up, and the limited self-identification led me to get a "bad vibe" from you. One or two of these things probably wouldn't have sent up warning flags for me; all five together did. I know we have some younger people on the forum and I didn't want anyone who was inexperienced in online transactions to be swindled. My intent was not to be cruel or overly critical, and neither was Belle's or Rumblepurr's. I was warning other members to proceed with caution(not that you were scamming us and everyone should shun you--I know, subtle difference), and Belle and Rumblepurr were actually offering you helpful advice on the general etiquette of online sales.

I was the said 'interested party' and it is true, she did send me a good picture of the costume, with information, and it happened to be a very nice costume. I don't wish to take sides but I thought that I should just mention that, although I too was unsure at first. Unfortunetly the costume isn't quite what I was looking for but it is really quite pretty!
